What does this mean?!

I am downloading Mods, and I keep seeing "OMOD Version", on a lot of Mod Titles and I searched Google, and other Oblivion places, and I still can't figure out what it is, and what it means... This is probably a stupid question.

Can someone tell me what this is? Link me to what I am supposed to have in order for the OMOD Version Mods that I have downloaded to function.

Thanks.

So... it has two titles then? OMOD and OMM... that's confusing lol...

Why are there two names for this?

Oh well, at least now I know the answer to the question.

Thanks.

Actually OBMM is OBlivion Mod Manager and an OMOD is a mod that has been saved in a special format for use with OBMM. An OMOD is nothing more than a .7z zip file that may have extra scripting embedded to give you choices on what parts of the mod to install or what settings you want to use. Also, when you deactivate an OMOD using OBMM it will remove all parts of the installed mod, textures, meshes, etc. so you won't have pieces left behind if you download a mod and decide to get rid of it later. It helps keep your data directory cleaner.

OBMM also has the ability to convert any archive or directory into an OMOD even if the mod you downloaded wasn't originally in that format.

I recommend using OBMM to manage mods. The OMOD part is optional and fully compatible with other ways of installing mods. you can have some of your mods in the normal format, some in OMOD format and they will all work in the game.

OBMM can work with non OMOD mods and is very handy for organizing your mods, seeing and changing the load order, handling archive invalidation and other things that you will come across in your adventures in using Oblivion Mods.

The OMOD format makes it very easy to remove a mod completely - As the normal non-OMOD way has no real uninstall capability beyond going in and manually finding every texture and every mesh and every other file that was placed in the game. With OMODs that is a one click operation. And one click to put the mod back in the game.
