blitzen
I would get a video card with 4 GB VRAM if you want to use the better high resolution textures for most of the game. I recently upgraded from an nVidia GTX 570 2.5 GB to an nVidia GTX 770 4 GB for that reason. It's easy to fill up 2.5 GB, and 3 isn't much higher. There were places in the game where a character could stand, and 2.5 GB wasn't enough to load all of the textures visible from that point if the point of view moved in a complete circle. There were only a few places like that, but I wasn't running with the highest resolutions either. On the other hand, I do nothing to optimize textures, so take that into consideration. I use the following processor and motherboard (several years old at this point), which seems to have plenty of power for running Skyrim (no apparent bottlenecking): Processor: Intel Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core)Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 Deluxe (Intel P67 Chipset) (New & Improved B3 Revision Without SATA 3G Issue) I don't use an ENB. I couldn't get it to work. Frame rates are very smooth. I run with AO on the performance setting. I do notice some slowdown with AO on High Quality (video card AO). Note that the video card has a 256-bit bus. It generally doesn't seem to be an issue.
