ForeuZe
Please, tell me that someone faced this -_- From one hour to another I cant fast travel to some places the citadel, and the places near it. It loads then the screen goes all black (there are still the loading clock hints and texts) and it freezes.I think it has something to do with the mods but I can't find what >< http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/1465/63665186.jpg Everything is shown here. When it's not a problem it's another ><
Lansat
Yeah, i can understand that, my game has so many random bugs due to mods it's become impossible to fix. On a note, have you tried using the Fook2+mmm compatability patches?http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4968

ForeuZe
Well, the FOIP didn't do much, the problem is still persistent, as I still have these random zoning crashes, like.. 1 chance on 5 to crash after zoning, fast travelling, or walking through a door -_- About the package manager.. well, does it work with every compressed file containing mods? I would believe it would screw up when it's not a bsa file.
BossDweebe
I don't know your experience level, so forgive if I pitch to a beginner level. On the fast travel - If the mods in question interact with the citadel then they are most likely the cause of the crashes. If you crash on fast travel elsewhere it may be due to auto save on fast travel if you have that on.Locking up is somewhat unsual re mods. Mods mostly cause a CTD or black screen crash. Were you play the game long before installing the mods ? There are several lock-up issues on Win 7 machines, even with vanillaFO3. Mods that work with the FOMM 'auto' install have a special folder in them that interacts with FOMM.I have personally never used this function as I am a control freak and like to know how, what and why,so I always manually install mods (well actually I did install 3 OBMM mods in Oblivion with this function). At this point, however, I would agree with Burnagirl that these two complex mods may be best installedusing the FOMM option. Especially if you are new to modding, except that you have them installed already, so now you need to sort them out. Some mods are a bit complex and have a number of folders, but with a bit of care mods can be installed very successfully manually. I sometimes drop a folder or set of files into the wrong place, but this is usually adjacent to the folder the files aremeant to be in so they are easy enough to find, and fix. It's just a matter of opening the file in 7zip and going through the folderstructure and comparing. Manually installing is actually a good tutorial on modding as you learn the file structure in the process. Not many mods have their own BSA file. Maybe FOOK2 and MMM use BSA's. I don't have them, so I wouldn't know. Apparently FOOK2 is a tricky mod, as is MMM, The grand mods were also bothersome with Oblivion. It is good to see that you have pretty much limited yourself to these two at the moment as it will improve your chances of sorting things out. Read and, understand their Read Me's. Burnagirl
Just as BossDweebe is a control freak, so was I - that way I learnt a lot about meshes, textures and sound files etc. - what they were, where they went and even how to manipulate them and create my own unique stuff by playing around with them - I'd reccomend that to anybody ! When it comes to the "package manager" in FOMM - 97% (yes that high) of the time the mod you want to install will work no problem - there are times however, when you're installing a mod with the package manager that it will tell you that there are sub-folders that you need to install (or some such wording) - this is when I now go back to "manually" installing the mod. A few of the main reasons that I "now" use the package manager in FOMM, is because it's easier to install the mod - AND - when the brown stuff hits the fan and for some reason or another I dont want the mod anymore I can just "deactivate" the mod in the package manager. This just about shutsdown the entire mod with "all" it's files - I dont have to go looking for the files. Furthermore if the mod overwrote some of the vanilla files and now you find those files and delete them, then you're going to have missing files in your game.Which simply means that you're going to have to re-install the game at some point because of all the missing stuff. I'm very weary of "replacer" anything mods ... files then you might just create a bigger problem be a doesnt really matter if you find them and delete them because
Lansat
Try using Fo3masterupdate, it works quite well for me for the most part. On a note, there is currently nothing that exists that can fully fix my Fo3 from the occasional crash it would seem. But most things at least make the game bearable. I'm very weary of "replacer" anything mods ... Just curious - I which instance does a mod actually overwrite a vanilla file? I always thought that they were safe and sound in the BSA's. Equally, 'replacer' does not actually replace anything as the file's in the Data folder only 'overwrite' the vanilla after the BSA's have been read when the game loads. The only things in the Data folder, aside from the BSA's, and esm before mods are the Music, Shaders, and Video folders. My understanding is that the only files that get could be permanently overwritten in the game are in these three folders. While new to FO3, many of the clothes and armor, meshes and textures in my Oblivion game are changed with 'replacer' files. (I've done a few meshes in FO3 as well ).That is to say no esp required. Just an Archive Invalidation via OBMM, and away you go. Don't like it anymore simply delete the file and the vanilla returns (do a AI just to be sure). elustran
My understanding is that FOOK 1.1 introduces problems with fast travel to certain around the DC and Arlington ruins. This is a problem with the mod and a known bug that is currently being fixed. As far as I know, there is no way to correct the fast-travel crashing error other than to find places where fast travel seems to work and walk.
