diagnose ctd

Some while ago I had problemswith ctd and with reinstalling oblivion. Fingers crossed, this appears to have mostly worked. However my main reason for the reinstall was various crashes during specific quests. I have one, persistent crash that occurs during peryites quest. As soon as I receive the quest and am transported to the oblivion plane I get a ctd. This can happen straight away or after a few seconds(enough time to see that I've reached oblivion but not enogh time for anything to happen)

.

One of the most frequent pieces of advice with problems is to regenerate the oblivion INI file. I did this but immediately noticed that the font wasn't rendering properly (I use the darnified ui). OK, I thought, just needs the screen resolution adjusting. No, changing the resolution crashed oblivion immediately on reload. I reverted to my saved oblivion .INI and all was OK again. This behaviour made me begin to suspect the graphics, in particular, I'd used OBGE but I had some doubts that I'd installed it correctly. Reading various posts I have reason to belive that my peryite crash is graphics related....possibly missing meshes or textures of the correct resolution.

Could anyone help by pointing me to a tool that can diagnose missing graphics resources or even a tool that can give me a pointer to the reason for the crash in the first place.

Since the deadric quests are in the vanilla edition I don't think that my mod list will be of any use, however I will post it if anyone thinks that it will help.

My graphics card is a geforce 760 and I am running W7 pro on an I5 machine with 8gig ram.
