segasoulja
Okay, I've been using this guide:http://db.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/fil...d_attribute.txt "Here's the good stuff. To begin with, you will want to write downall of your skill scores EVERY time you advance a level. Unless youare gifted with an iron-bound memory, this is essential to keepingtrack of your current attribute multipliers. Whenever you gain a total of ten skill levels in any combination ofMajor/Minor skills, you will gain a character level. This levelwill be applied as soon as you rest. The happiest part, of course, about gaining a character level is that you get to increase the score of three different attributes of your choosing by 1 to 5points each, depending on each attribute's multiplier. Simply put, this means that for each and every character level, you get to allocate anywhere from 3 to 15 points to your attributes. Obviously, you want to be a greedy little player andget as close to that 15 point limit as you can with evey level!" I've been trying to figure out the whole stat multiplier in level advancement thing, but it's not making too much sense to me and I've only been able to get 3x multipliers in two different attributes. The guide there says that it's possible to get 5x in three different ones, but I'm not having any luck.I don't understand at all how that is possible in the first place... you need ten points to a certain attribute to get a 5x multiplier in it, but every ten points you end up gaining a level. How can you get three different 5x multipliers by advancing only ten skills? Anyways, I hope there' someone here who's a complete stat-head and actually knows how this kind of thing works in Morrowind. Thanks in advance. Cardboard Box
My guess is that it's something to do with the amount of times you use a particular set of skills. If you used nothing but short blades (governed by Speed), you'd probably see a multiplier appear for that.
phawk69
If I remember correctly, you are both right - you need to raise a skill ten points to get a 5x multiplier, and the best way to do that is to focus on one skill. The main problem being that once you have raised a Major or Minor skill ten points you gain a level, and only get one 5x multiplier - so: raise two other skills ten points first. If your specialization is sneak, and your major skills are sneak, athlectics, hand-to-hand, short blade, security and minor something like destruction, long blade, unarmoured, restoration, speak craft, when you are playing buy ten levels in block and armourer before you hit ten in any one of the others, this way when you rest, you will find 3 5x multipliers. Just make sure the governing attribute for each is different.
alternator
It's been a while since I learnt the system but I will try and remember it all. These are the key elements:Each attribute governs certain skills (outlined in the instructions etc)The multiplier of an attribute is determined by the combined increase of its governed skills. For each attribute you want to raise to get a max 5 multiplier you need to raise its governed skills 10.eg. Strength governs Acrobatics, Armorer, Axe, Blade, and Blunt. so if since your last level increase you gained 2 in Acrobatics, 4 in Axe, and 4 in Blade. You would have 10 total skill gains under strength and this will get you your 5x multiplier. Obviously you want to be weary of gaining increases to major skills since this controls when you gain a level. However and this is the part I forget a bit, there is a limit on how much a minor skill can add to your total skill gains for an attribute, I think it might be a max of 4 from a minor... so eg.Acrobatics is a major all the other strength skills are minor. You gain 5 in acrobatics and 5 in blade, you are only going to get a recognised skill gain of 9 since only 4 of the blade gains count. If instead you got 5 acrobatics, 4 blade, and 1 blunt, then you would get 10. (this is going from memory hopefully someone else will be able to confirm)
thanateros
If you want to ruleslawyer then the best strategy is to never have the skills you actually plan to use as major and minor skills, just make them non-class skills. This way, will ALWAYS advance in levels when you want to AND get the 5x multiplier for the attributes you want. For example. I'm playing a thief class character. I use light armor, short blade, dagger, acrobatics, marksman, sneak, and alchemy. But to ensure when I level I get a 5x multiplier in speed, agility, and intelligence I'll make my class skills look something like this: SpeechcraftHeavy ArmorMysticism (mark/recall good to have)IllusionArmorerLong BladeMedium ArmorRestorationBlock The skills I choose in character generation have nothing to do with the thief class, but all of the skills can be controlled such that when I level sneak and alchemy up 10 times each I'll just throw on a set of heavy armor, stand in front of a mud crab while blocking, then heal myself when I need or repair my equipment. This way, when I level, I'm likely to get my intended multiplier and also a 5x multiplier in another skill (like strength). That's the most efficient way to control how you level and what multipliers you get in the process.Magic based skills are the best if you want to level up quickly. 1pt spells are easy to cast, cost close to nothing, and will help you level quickly throughout the game.
