Taoutes
Hey. I am sort of new to mods cause I useually play legit, but I have gotten into them recently. My main thing to mod/get mods for is Fallout 3. I keep getting this to happen: I download a file and go to open it. I get an error message saying that the "Current File You are looking for: Fallout_3_Space_Marine_Version_6_Full has been deleted." I had this message before and got rid of it by changine the permissions and then downloading it again. Does anybody know another solution as this is not working for me and I have about six mods that are locked on me. For some reason it will not let me change some of the permissions, so I need some help please.
Taoutes
I just wanted to let y'all know that I found another way that works, but less than 10% of the time. If you find the main file in a group of downloads, I.E. Fallout_3_Space_Marine_Version_6_Main is the main file for Space Marine armor. If you check the permissions, under properties, go to security/advanced/and click on the user that says "administrator" before you hit 'OK' check the little box that says to apply to all of the folders and delete the child folders. You will get a warning message that will ask you 'are you sure?' say F*** Yes to yourself and click yes. This solved my problem, but some of my friends had the same problem as me and tried what I did and nothing happened. You may have to set your permissions to the administrator before you do this, which is what I did, or don't. 2 of my friends didn't and got this process to work. Cheers. A word of Caution: The files will be moved from where you originally downloaded them to, but simply search the file name's beginning and it should come up. make a double window and put the window of the search next to your destination and drag the files that have the BIGGEST size there. The computer makes copies of the files and leaves out some of the information, but leaves the original.
bben46
Looks like you have run into the Vista/Win7 feature called UAC. It is a security feature that prevents you from making changes to programs in the program files folders. As Mods are changes, it tries to prevent them unless you give special permission (right click, run as administrator) every time you try to install a mod. You still have to do that even if you are signed on as an administrator. The best solution is to move the game out of the default location wnere UAC will not interfere with what you want to do. Lockily, you can do that in Fallout without having to reinstall.
