bben46
Then the game was messed up by trying to install the wrong patch and it must be completely removed and reinstalled. For some reason Beth did not make their patches compatible with each other. Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexushttp://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=

Tried another patch, it also didn't work. I don't think I ever installed a wrong patch. Also, I did this procedure of yours not too long ago...The results? It didn't work. By the way, can you give more detail into the wrong patch thing?
bben46
If you have any no CD cracks, Oblivion - or the patch, depending on the particular crack, will not install until you remove them. If you have a D2D version, you must go to D2D for the patch. The one on The Beth site will not work.If you have a pirate version, who knows what you have. Don't be so cheap, buy the game. A partially installed unsuccessful patch will cause strange problems when you try to use the proper patch The ONLY way to fix it is to completely uninstall the game then reinstall it before trying the proper patch. If you follow the procedure I gave a link to fully, it will completely uninstall your game AND clean the Windows registry of the entries that were left behind using the game uninstall. This procedure has worked for hundreds of people with better than a 90% success rate. If you skip any steps, or think you don't need to reboot both before and after running the registry cleaner, you will still have those pesky Registry entries that prevent reinstalling or prevent patching. One of the registry entries has the patch info from the First patch you tried to use. Until that entry is removed, the game will not try to install the proper patch. And if you have a pirate version, it's even possible that bad entry is installed by the stolen version. (pirate versions are notorious for being incomplete or for having things that shouldn't be there - such as viruses) Then, If you have a US or Canadian version of the game, use the North American Patch. If you have a UK, South African, Australian, New Zealand version, use the UK version of the patch.
