juggalo83
im new to texturing oblivion stuff but have been working with the construction set for awhile, i wanted to retexture the one of the original races faces, i have retextured source games beforebut they are 1mesh-1texture but the .dds file has like 4 or 5 pics in it varying in sizes, so im wondering if i can just edit the biggest and have the smaller pics "auto edit" or something? i have found tutorials on retexturing but none for races or npc's i just dont get it i guess, anyone care to explain or link me some were? Dracula420
if your talking about the _n or _g then for the most part you do not need to edit them. if your talking about the smaller increasingly lower rez images called mipmaps then those are regenerated everytime you save the dds. what program are you using to edit? Sarya
The Photoshop has the option to load the texture without showing mipmaps.

Habel
The Photoshop has the option to load the texture without showing mipmaps. if it can regenerate them that would be a better option, were is this option? When you import the .dds file into photoshop, it should come up with a popup that asks you how you want to import it - make sure you have it imported without the mipmaps being displayed. Once you edit the main texture, it'll take care of the rest. When you export your texture I think there's an option that lets you generate new mimaps. Usually even those models with 1 mesh and 1 texture you're talking about have mipmaps too. I'm pretty sure they've been being used for a really long time. juggalo83
i opened the file in photoshop and no pop up popped i did end up exporting the file without mipmaps with the compressionator and imported it with photoshop to edit then opened it back up with compressionator to generate mipmaps, an extra step but it seems like im headed in the right direction and the 1 mesh - 1 texture thing i was talking about was like counter strike source and hl2, kinda like a texture blanket with all the faces mixed up they do have maps but i think those were only for creating models with textures, ive just edited 1 .vtf and save to retexture *** i did get a popup when i saved a .dds in photoshop that had options for mipmaps Edited April 25, 2010 by juggalo83
