Better Music System Trouble

i am trying to get the latest version of the Better Music System mod to work and getiing no where. i have tried disaleing mods, redownloading the mod, reinstalling the obse plugins need for this, adding the spell and items to a chest in an esp, messing with thi INI, adjusting load order and nothing works. scripted spell never shows up in my spell list, the item that are suppose to be at the copius coinpurse are never there, the battle music never starts and the custom region playlist never play. i have gon thru the readme for it several times and it solved nothing i am using OBSE 18 ver 6 and redownloaded and install the plugings with the latest version today and still nothing. is there suppose to be an esp with it or is it just an esm? is there a console command to force it to start? what mods are known to interfere with it? frostcrag reborn uses the enhancedMusicControl.ddl too, would that cause problems? :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

Huh. Okay, I have one guess to begin with. You might not have the other audio plugins that are required for BMS to work installed correctly. I'm trying to think of what else you need. I distinctly remember that when I installed BMS myself, there was something else I had to download separately and install first, something with DLL files. What the hell was it called. Meh, wait here a moment and I'll go check...

 

... okay. There are two others as it turns out. Sound Commands, and Enhanced Music & Control. You NEED both of those installed correctly to make Better Music System work.

 

If you do have those already (sounds like you do, you said "obse plugins") check and be sure they're in the right place. Navigate to your Oblivion folder, wherever it is, and go to Data --> OBSE --> Plugins. This is where the DLL files should be hiding. If this folder does NOT contain a file called SoundCommands.dll and one called EnhancedMusicControll.dll, but you do remember downloading those, then somehow they're installed in the wrong place. Dig up those two DLL files from wherever the hell they've gotten to, and stick them back in Oblivion \ Data \ OBSE \ Plugins where they belong.

 

If that doesn't work or you already had those two installed properly, I'm not sure what else it could be. I'll give it some thought and another pot of coffee, and maybe somebody more experienced than I will have answered by then!

 

Edit: Hang on, something else just occured to me. There's an INI that belongs with Better Music System along with the esm file (there is no esp unless you're using the BMS for Elsweyr or Shivering Isles). Do you have that INI in your Oblivion Data folder, or in the Data \ INI folder? Whichever one it is, try putting it into the other one. I just checked my setup and I seem to have a copy of BetterMusicSystem.ini in both places; directly in the Data folder with all the esp's, and an identical copy in the INI folder. I'm not sure which one BMS is using... I probably copied it to both places while installing as a failsafe.

yes i have the INI and both DDL's and they are in the right folders. BMS worked once but the level up menu for oblivion xp wouldn't come up so i changed the load orderthinking that was the problem and the BMS never worked again. even after uninstallling OXP it still won't work. i reduced my mod list to just DLC's, UOP, and USIP and still nothing. i deleted the dummy mp3 out of ONLY the playlists that had other songs. I will try putting a INI copy in the INI folder and see if that works. i've never had a mod fail me like this. i got UV to work and that was way more complicated

kay, i dont have this issue, but its still related to BMS.

great mod, i dont want to play without it anymore, thats why it bugs me so much:

at random situations (normally indoors) the game freezes. i tried to play without the other mods (see the list below), altering the ini, reinstalling, savecleaning.

okay, so i managed to get wrye bash working, and now BMS seems to work... YAY!

now i gonna endorse it :P
