Gibbo3771
Well, surely it is possible? I just downloaded "Better Shack" mod and there is like a zillian containers to store all my goodies but I would like to organise it properly so I can just jump to the right cabinet rather than putting it all in 1, then crashing for 5 minutes while it loads it all up
bben46
Check this mod The Art of Speedy Depositing. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9835 It allows naming storage containers and a quick way to organize your stuff.
Gibbo3771
Oh I like that lol. Still wouldnt mind knowing a method to rename the base of that particular container tho. I am quite the organised person and it actually gets on my tits :verymad:
bben46
Most of the vanilla containers names are generic, so changing one would change them all. They have names in the construction set like chest01 which you will find almost anywhere. These are also re-spawning containers. However, If a container is unique in the game - has its own unique name and id - it's easy to change in the construction set. You can give it a new name, change whether it re-spawns loot or not, and what type of loot if it does. For any generic container you really want to rename. If you go into the CS, select that particular container and rename it with a new CS name (which can be the same name you see in the game) and a new reference ID then you can rename it without renaming every identical container in the game. I just checked the the containers in the shack, about 35 of them, all different ID's. But whats to say they are not the same as Containers somewhere else in the game. Infact they are not proper containers nor proper cabinets, its like sliding drawers built into the wall. I have never seen them before so I am guessing the mod Author created them him/herself and gave them that ID. Sooo...what is the syntax to change object names? I know actors and etc but can not find the object one anywhere online. Cheers
Blaine1431
The simplest way to go about this would be to create duplicates of the containers in the construction set. Step 1: Load up Oblivion.esm & the .esp of whatever mod you're using.Step 2: Then find the interior of the house, and open it up in the render window.Step 3: double click on the containers you wish to change, and find their base items.Step 4: Right click the base items, duplicate them, and change their names.Step 5: Place instances of those base items with the changed names in the house where you want them to go.Step 6: Delete the instances of the items you did not change so they're not there when you load up the game.Step 6: Save your file as an .esp, and load it up along with the mod you're using. While this is the simplest and most direct method, its also something called mod sniping, which is usually bad, if you're trying to create a mod for other people to use. I'm currently in the process of doing this for the vault in frostcrag spire. Edited December 18, 2015 by Blaine1431

In console mode type setname "XXXXXXX" and the name changes. Your an old hand at it. You know how to change weight and value as well among other things.
