Hey

I just played Skyrim for about 6 hours straight! No problems.

And i ended up in some bandit cave and i cant sleep.

When i try to sleep, i CTD!

Now i had to role back to my last save....6 hours ago.

After rolling back to my last manual save, it worked again.

What causes the game to end up like this?

Can someone explain this to me? Or atleast try to explain it, becuase i dont get it.

Does the game wearout over time like the breaks on my mountainbike?

Just please help me understand this...

I mean if mods are the problem it would happend everytime i would sleep, but thats not the case.

It happend randomly in that bandit cave. Why?

How can i prevent this?

One thing is sure, i will maually save more often...

Regards,

a very pissed Chris.

That is an apt analogy. The game does wear out. It is a 32 bit application with a limited amount of memory at its disposal. It is notorious for not releasing memory effectively. All that combined with a lengthy play session means that something is going to give. Aside from trying a multitude of third-party tools to try and free up memory, increase performance and all that... saving often and fully exiting every now and then are very good practices to have.

May I suggest Skyrim Project Stability? It has some helpful tips and pointers to obtain a stable game.

Thanks for your reply.

I still don't understand it, but I am a little narrow minded when it comes to technical stuff. Bare with me. I will save manually more often now.

And i will give that guide you posted a good read when I got the time. Thanks
