odark
Anyone tried 2K's beta patch yet? Oh it's out? I'll think I'll wait for a final release patch.
Dilvish
I installed the patch and played for a while. The game seemed fine but it was running fine for me before the patch too. I explored Hrota Cave just north of Anvil. It seemed to be a bandit cave but for some reasons there were no bandits. There were no baddies of any kind in the cave. I looted the crates and chests at will and left. That's the first time I've seen an empty cave in the game. All the NPCs in Anvil were okay and there were wolves and deer and lions roaming around outside the city. I went to an abandoned fort and fought skeleton champions outside and vampires and litches inside. I finally found a glass longsword on one of the vampires. Yeah! Crowe
I've installed it and it seems a 'lil better. In particular, it doesn't crash to desktop anymore (it used to while I was playing every now and then.
Stampede
I've read some things on the official forums that I did not like about this patch. I'm lucky in that Oblivion has always run fine for me, so if it ain't broke... Besides past experiences have told me to stay away from anything Elder Scrolls related that has 'beta' in the title. silverstar
Still crashes on exit for me... unfortunately, there's still some graphical issues with textures flipping out of the frame every now and then. But, they did seem to repair chameleon(Sapphire X1600 512Mb AGP), so it actually uses transparencies, rather than completely flip out the shading so you're totally transparent, with just lumps showing up on armor and shield and the like. Much better effect now. Other than that... it just screws around with some mods. Particularly UI mods, such as DarkUI Oh, and text box errors are still plentiful. Annoying how half the text will just suddenly vanish, while scrolling through. :/
daeanor
It broke the colored map mod I had (could probably just re-install it, it's just a texture). I hadn't noticed DarkUI getting broken, but that is probably because I had to customize it to run with BTMod. I crash less often if I save then immediately exit. But only less often, it still happens. Now and then, if I alt-tab to a browser or something, it locks the game up; I don't remember if I had that before the patch or not. I generally pause the game by hitting ESC ... when I switch out and back again, the game environment will be full color again like the ESC menu was gone, but it's still up and I can't do anything except ctrl-alt-del to end the game. Only happens once in a while, most of the time I can switch out fine. Other than those things, nothing is different that I have noticed.
