XaiXo
After finally getting GFWL to work again (long story, but rest assured it's a temporary thing), Fallout 3 has been crashing a lot. Pretty much every time (4 out of 5 times, give or take) I transition through a door, it crashes on the loading screen. Occasionally, it'll just black-screen and kick me back to the desktop when roaming outside. It's really, really annoying now. I'm saving every time I look at a door that leads to a new cell. What could be causing this?
elustran
I too have been experiencing this issue and have had problems both with mods and without. I used to think that Autosave caused the problem - it's hard to tell, but turning it off may have helped a tiny bit. Still, I've been having serious crashing problems, and I've attempted several fixes, including stuff like running FO3MU, none of which seem to have helped. I had some hard disk glitches that got fixed by running chkdsk on my game install drive and on my Windows drive at startup, and I had some bad RAM that I recently replaced. You might consider testing your RAM too - check out http://www.memtest.org/ and burn an ISO to test your memory at boot-up - a single pass should take about a half hour, but if you want to be thorough, you can run it overnight. I wonder if some of my files got corrupted by disk and/or RAM errors, so I'm giving some consideration to erasing Fallout 3, re-downloading my mods and DLCs, and reinstalling, just to ensure that none of my files have errors, but that's a LOT of effort that I'd rather not have to go to Does anybody know if there's an easy way of validating your files or checking for minor corruption? XaiXo
I'll give a few checks a whizz, see if anything comes up. I've had these troubles post re-installation via GOTY disk, so perhaps it's something to do with that.
BossDweebe
This may be off track - but, I've had a couple of instances of save corruption. This leads to repeat crash issues that seem to occur at or very near the same place. This is different from 'random' crashes. In all cases the issue - crash on fast travel, entering building after fast travel, and crashing when saving.were fixed by rolling back to the previous save, or in some cases doing things like fast travel to anotherlocation and save again, and then reload and travel back (this worked when I started crashing when trying toenter a particular Metro). I try to keep about an hour between saves, but do a few extras after I have problems. I will always make asave to another slot after I complete the problem task (entering building, fast travel etc.) then another 5-10 min on,or just after I finish a task (inventory management, dialog etc). I can generally get three hours w/o a crash if the saves stay clean. Why not keep your mod zips ? Save a lot of time downloading again.

Quetzlsacatanango
It's it's crash on save, including auto save such as when entering new cells/fast travelling, you need to run fo3edit master update.
PickelSurprise
It's it's crash on save, including auto save such as when entering new cells/fast travelling, you need to run fo3edit master update. Where can one find the master update for FO3Edit? I think I'm having the same problem as the OP. I've checked the download page on the Nexus, but there's no master update. Or an I just being really thick and it's included in the most recent file?

It's cool just read the fo3edit readme or just create a shortcut pointing to fo3edit and include -masterupdate in the arguments.
