Vaile
I'm sorry ahead of time if I've put this in the wrong forum, but I didn't think it belonged in the Mod Request forum. I was wondering if there's a mod in existence that gives you the clothing Morrigan has in the concept art. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Josh
Sferzar
The best thing about Morrigan AND Oghren (both developer darlings) is that they got their unique hairstyles and in Morrigan's case she also gets her concept art clothes in-game. Its been so long since I used the vanilla robe, so I'm not sure that she has the bikini top originally. Here is one that has that bikini top in the concept art. http://dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36 The hoodie is actually part of her standard robe but she just has it pulled back. Vaile
Thanks. I've actually seen that, but do you know of a mod that shows it over her head?
Sferzar
Nope. Nothing yet.
Vaile
Is is possible to be made, or are the tools for it not available yet?Sorry, I don't know enough about modding to know if that's a stupid question.
DarkeWolf
nope, not a dumb question at all.Theres a problem with trying to do hoods that hasnt been figured out yet. Its because the heads are completely seperate parts of the main body. So basically the head is one piece, the body is another piece. That means that something that goes over the head is one piece (the hood) and the parts that replace the body (her robes) would be another seperate piece. Now consider the appearance factor. Getting those two seperate pieces to sit correctly, and MOVE correctly, so as to appear as a single piece, without any clipping, gaps, crossovers, etc.... well....thats gonna take some serious talent and skill at 3d modeling, rigging, and animation. My opinion is that this is another one of the dumb mistakes that BW did, with their body models. MOST games and 3d art, the body is a whole individual piece, with the face/head having morph injections to be able to alter them (in games where you can adjust the appearance) or use masks for that purpose. This whole crap of having the head, hands, feet, and body as seperate pieces causes problems!
Vaile
That's a shame. But thanks for taking the time to explain it.
DarkeWolf
Not a problem, there's a lot of things about the mechanics in this game that are VERY much different from the way that most games handle things. A lot of people just dont realize this, as they dont really know much or understand much, about how games work (or dont work, in some cases, lol ! ) Which is no fault of their own of course. I'm not saying that it couldnt be done. it would be pretty cool if somebody actually did do something like this. But it would definitely take somebody with some talent at 3d work to make it work correctly... as far as how it looks and how it moves. Now, granted... a person could "cheat" and make it so that the parts of the hood around the neck, are covered by a layer of folds, where the hood gathers up. But...that wouldnt look a lot like the artwork does. And would probably still have some clipping when the character turned their head, or inclined their head side to side. LOL I do gotta say this tho. Doing concept art, or character drawings, or 2d/pencil/paint art is the really easy part. We dont have to worry about physics, or game mechanics, or anything like that. We just put down what we see in our minds
Vaile
Lol. I guess that explains why I've been sketching for as long as I can remember, but I still can't spend five good minutes on a toolkit for any game!
DarkeWolf
hahahaha yeah, me too. Tho I have to say, the toolset for THIS particular game (along with a lot of the mechanics that go with it) are NOT as simple, or user friendly as a lot of other games are. And its not stable either, so if a person were to be making a rather complex or large mod, and then have the toolset crash in the middle of it.... grrrrrrrrrrr! :verymad:
