SpellAndShield
If there have been 5 in total, including the one you have stopped, when did the ones take place prior? I know that Garahel ended the 4th Blight 400 years ago but for some reason it has been implied that the first Blight took place only 1,000 years ago? But how is that possible, a Blight every 200 years? Then some place else I saw it said that the first Blight was 3,000 years ago. Does anyone have an idea of the real timeline? This gets me thinking that an expansion and/or game in the Tevinter Imperium could be interesting...anyway...what exactly is the timeline for the different Blights? Cheers
Kamajii
The First Blight began in 800 TE, approximately 1300 years before the events of Dragon Age: Origins, and lasted nearly two centuries, the longest Blight in history. The Second Blight occurred in 1:5 Divine and lasted 90 years. The Third Blight occurred in 3:10 Towers and lasted 15 years. The Fourth Blight occurred in 5:12 Exalted and lasted 12 years. The Fifth Blight attempts to occur in 9:30 Dragon and was averted. So... We know that the first blight occurred 1300 years before the Fifth Blight and that the Fourth Blight occurred 400 years before the Fifth Blight. So the Fourth occurred 900 years after the first. And now its time to look up how long the other ages lasted. Apparently each age lasts no longer than 99 years so... the third blight began in 3:10 and ended in 3:25 and the fourth began in 5:12 and ended in 5:24 which puts it at 86 years apart. So.. it looks like the third started 200 years before the fourth. And the second started 203 years before the third. yeah that was a bit dizzying to follow so let's try to put it all back together First Blight: 1300 years before The Fifth BlightSecond Blight: 803 years before The Fifth BlightThird Blight: 600 years before The Fifth BlightFourth Blight: 400 years before The Fifth BlightFifth Blight: Was just averted I hope that made sense. Double thumbs up for the research, and the math!  It was a mess, looking back I actually wrote my musings as I went instead of just writing the information :ninja: Is it just me or with every new blight gets shorter with every new archdemon Consider the change in technology, the new magics discovered, and most importantly the lessons learned from the battles in the previous blights. I am sure with all this combined the blights remain manageable in the best of conditions.

Hmm...I suppose the Darkspawn are a recent threat then; 1,300 years ago is not that long ago. I was hoping it would be more ancient, oh well. The Tevinter Imperium reminds me of Netheril for those who know Forgotten Realms. About the same time ago and similarly arrogant mages who were punished for hubris... Thanks again
