Using Mods

Well I'm new to the whole mod thing, but I saw some screen shots and wanted to download some hair and sexy armor mods but I don't really understand how they work, you download them and then..? Sorry for being such a noob xD but if anyone could answer that would be great :D

Usually there are installation instructions in the read me that comes in the zip file.Having said that it isnt always the case. Depending on the mod type you are using its may require you to download and install further elements such as Obliivion Script extender also another useful utility to have with mods installation is Oblivion mod manager

 

This will enable the use of omods a file format that is superb for working mods.

 

The general approach with most mods is extract to a new folder then copy and paste the mods into your c:/program files/Bethesda/Oblivion/Data folder ensuring to overwrite any files if asked. Usually just dragging and dropping into your data folder does the trick.

 

Then if you have oblivion mod manager installed check the box next to the mod name before you launch oblivion, if you dont have oblivion mod manager click the data files link on the oblivion launcher. Then check the box of the mods you installed.

 

A word of warning though:p mod installing can become very addictive.

 

I spend more time downloading and creating mods than i do playing these days lol

Oh and also i should have mentioned this learn to read the read mes it will save you a lot of headaches

Thanks for the link, I've downloaded a few armor mods, about to try downloading a hair mod then I'll load up Oblivion to see if they work, fingers crossed :D
