PSU means power supply. I knew I was being too lazy, sorry... Your video memory is really... Ehhh, your system is on the weak side, by a lot... I do not even know what that video card is. Your RAM is not even the recommended quantity. It passes the minimum specs, marginally.

I know the min system requirement. That's why I said your system passes them. However, your RAM does not meet the minimum requirements. You probably do not need to worry about you PSU, as your graphics card should not be drawing much power. What model is this machine you are running, by the way?

No, you're cool. ;) His computer has more RAM, which gives Oblivion more breathing room. XP is a cleaner operating system than Vista. Just look at the page files on the two. You should try a clean boot and run your games with as many unnecessary background processes turned off as possible.

Clean boot takes out all processes. It is useful if you really need to run the game with the bare minimum in the background, or if you are trying to figure out if one of those processes is to blame for your performance issues. It is also a sort of reset. There is no way that that would break your computer. That is a troubleshooting and cleaning action. Another thing you can do is defrag your hard drive and turn off hardware acceleration via the Dxdiag menus (or music in the game via the INI.) I recommend an outside program for defragging. There are many good programs. I could not decide for you, but I can give you a link to one of those "best" lists. Actually, it looks like I was able to pick out a "best".

MyDefrag - http://www.mydefrag.com/ <-- defragging

CCleaner - http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner <-- registry cleaner

Those are both excellent application, so there is no need to worry about them. Another way to speed up your computer is to clean it of temporary files, adware, etc. CCleaner can deal with the temporary files, I believe. For antivirus, I recommend AVG Free, and, for spyware, I recommend SpyBot Search & Destroy. For S&D, there is no reason to use the Tea Timer or the real-time cleaning. You just want to setup the automated scans and use immunization after running a scan every now and then (definitely after running the first one.) I do not know about MyDefrag, but the other utilities all have really nice, user-friendly interfaces.

AVG Free - http://free.avg.com/us-en/download-avg-anti-virus-free <-- download the free version

Spybot S&D - http://www.securitywonks.net/listing/view/1/Spybot-Search-Destroy <-- linked directly to the download page for ya'

Edit: If you have other spyware and antivirus programs installed, it is best to uninstall those first. Running multiple antivirus programs can cause trouble, and running multiple of any of these programs is a serious resource hog. If you are satisfied with the protection you have, do not bother with these. I am just offering suggestions.
