RossGarner
Having just come back to Oblivion, I've been trying to get FCOM to work, because I've heard its a fun mod. I had CTD on startup problems, which turned out to be a missing master problems. Just one step past that, every time I try to start a new game I get an Oblivion has stopped working and needs to close error. I uninstalled Oblivion, reinstalled from scratch after deleting all the files in my Oblivion folder, but I'm getting the same new game crash. Tomlong54210
Did you regenerate your Oblivion.ini, by deleting it from the My Games\Oblivion folder and relaunching?

Tomlong54210
You have no mods installed, right? Try a clean boot.
bben46
Uninstalling Oblivion does not remove everything. It leaves behind quite a bit, including all of your saves, the Oblivion.ini and most important, the Windows registry entries. Any of these can cause problems when you reinstall. Here is a procedure that removes everything, allowing a true clean reinstall, and a backup to fall back on in the future so you don't have to reinstall. RossGarner
I do have FCOM installed now, Oblivion by itself works normally, but I wanted to get FCOM working with the game. Tried the clean boot, with the mods running, still got the same error.

Tomlong54210
Post your load order with Wrye Bash by right-clicking on "File" and using the "List mods" function (which copies the list for you.) I want to see the version numbers, so that list does not suffice. You should not have the main HF plugin deactivated if you have those other plugins merged into the bashed patch. I cannot tell. Please, post your load order with Wrye Bash. Make sure you are using HF v3.0.1, the latest version, and not the version bundled with OOO 1.33.
