Crash on New Game / Load

No. You probably just do not have FCOM installed correctly. If the vanilla game is running, reinstalling Oblivion is not going to help. Please post your load order with Wrye Bash. You also need to make sure the BSAs are loading. Rename the MMM BSA "FCOM_Convergence - MMM.bsa" and the Fran BSA "FCOM_Convergence - FraNewItems.bsa".

Now, that is enlightening. You need to update MMM. MMM 3.7b3 requires a clean install. You need to uninstall whatever MMM it is you have installed now, delete it, and install MMM 3.7b3. You should also have FCOM updated with the UFCOM update. Make sure the bashed patch does not have any red boxes in its masterlist, indicating missing masters. That is why you should uninstall Harvest Flora and LE, and other unused plugins, so that you do not accidentally import their contents into the bashed patch.

I downloaded the new MMM from that site, installed following its directions, but I still got the same crash. The directions listed there seem to have several steps that weren't in the original FCOM instructions I read, it seems I was using outdated information. Would it be worth it to clean out Oblivion and follow the instructions from that site?

 

Edit: I also got the UFCOM update and followed its readme.

It is not good to mix instructions while installing FCOM because that often leads to confusion. The FCOM Convergence site is slightly outdated at the moment. If you use the homepage or the first-time users guide to install, you have to reference the official FCOM thread as well (on the BethSoft forums.) You can restart and follow the instructions on that guide if you think it would be too hard to pin down the problem. However, could I take another look at your load list with the updated files installed? Have you renamed the MMM BSA and Fran BSA as I suggested earlier?

I renamed each of the BSA above, ran boss, rebuilt my bashed and tried again, but I got the same error.

I renamed each of the BSA above, ran boss, rebuilt my bashed and tried again, but I got the same error.

You should only use ONE general spawn rates plugin. Fix that and rebuild your bashed patch. Maybe you should restart and follow that guide, to the "T"...

I think you should install the UOP as well, but are these the only mods you are using, these mods with plugins? Are you using a UI mod? This should not be crashing. This problem might not be mod related. The only other "invisible" requirement is using the 1.2.0416 version of Oblivion. FCOM is installed correctly. Are you using the regular version of DLCFrostcrag and not Frostcrag reborn. Can you load just the FCOM setup successfully: the Fran, MMM, OOO and FCOM ESPs? If not, post your Dxdiag.
