Getting realistic fast paced combat in Skyrim

Hey all,

So I have gotten my combat in Skyrim to something I feel is realistic and extremely fast paced and intense and I thought I'd share it with you all in case someone else was looking for the same type of experience and just hasn't found it yet. I'm not going to list every mod I use, as I'm running at 253-254 at all times and only a handful have to do with combat. However with all that said, there are some that are important regarding skill changes. I am not running SkyRe or Requiem. I've used both in the past and they are great but I decided to gather what I felt was the best of everything one at a time rather then a jack of all trades type mod. Many thanks and kudos to the author of each of these fantastic mods! I love the work you all do in the modding community keeping my Skyrim game highly addictive for hours on end just tweaking small things.

So I will start by stating I use "Empowered Magic" for mage skills and "The ThirdRace Skill OVerhaul" for all other skills.

There is one option of Erkeil Real Skyrim Overhaul I feel is important to mention and that is the faster and higher damage arrows.

Also Audio Overhaul for Skyrim 2 will have you cringing as those arrows fly by.

Now let's get to the meat and potatoes!

I installed, in this order to the best I can remember...

TK Recoil

TK HitStop

Dual Wield Parrying

Combat Damage Multiplier (The heart and sole of this... this is a HUGE HIDDEN GEM that is out there)

Deadly Combat

Locational Damage (For headshots only)

Enhanced Enemy AI

Enhanced Mighty Dragons

Enemy AI Overhaul - Revenge of the Enemies

Basically a cloth wearing individual is now going to die from one or two hits of a sword. I hated how someone in cloth could take 7 swings of a blade to kill. Light Armor typically gives about 2-3 hits, sometimes 4. And Heavy Armor takes about 4-7. I do not use unleveled enemy mods anymore (I used to) but I would think this should work fine for all that. I also don't use any spell add on mods anymore. I do use some kill move mods that make for great cinematic action.

Anyways... Tweaking things and getting them to this point took A LOT of tweaking with A LOT of different mods. I hope others enjoy this setup as much as I do, as it has really made for a fast paced combat style where you will find yourself ducking behind rocks and doing back flips and dodging to avoid being hit. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Sounds like what I have

>Requiem

>Duel: Combat Realism

>Ultimate Combat Overhaul

>Total Realism: Needs

>Frostfall

>Set at legendary difficulty

Still easier than Dark Souls. I know I'm a DS fanboy, but I think that game has an amazing combat system where you can really feel the "crunch" of each blow

I find the mod "ultimate combat overhaul" in combination with TK Recoil and TK HitStop makes combat feel intense and realistic.

Also Requiem disables the default difficulty slider, requiem and legendary is the exact same as requiem on novice. I can see how one could make that mistake though, seeing as Requiem puts default legendary to shame without the aid of any other mods.
