I bought this laptop and I can't add mods or cheats because the key that looks like this ( ` ) usually this key lets me add items and other uses to my player. like if I want to add a sword of a certain type I would hit this key and it would pause the game while I type in text to add items etc. can anyone help me figure out why this is not working for me. Like if I wanted to become rich then I would hit this key and type in "player.additem 000000f 100000 and then hit enter and it would give me a million in my purse can anyone help me with this? I would take me a million years to get anywhere because I travel alot and when I do have time to play, I can't see much of a future with this game because it would take me a million years to get anywhere HELP thanks

I guess that means that you do not have that key. Your post is very unclear.

this is the key ~ not ` < that, you gotta hold shift and press ` and you get ~ it's called the tilde key ( hope this helps )

One thing that piqued me: if you managed to type ` that should mean you have the tilde ~ key. Those characters are bound to the same button (or key, as it is a keyboard)

 

All of the laptops I have seen have that particular key, it's pretty much a standard, although I can't seem to find a usage for that key except to open an in-game console...

You are right. They are bound to the same key, and you should not have to press the shift button to access the console. Does the mod I linked work?

The easiest option for you, rather than messing with key bindings, is to download 'Ring of Console' as linked above. works everytime.
