But I've got the randomization down...

A heavey armor test of 100 items in my new leveled lists yields

1 Daedric, 3 Ebony, 5 Orcish, 1 Dwarven, 31 Steel, 59 Iron.

Daedric and ebony shouldn't appear in random level lists at all, simply because they're too rare and expensive to be found elsewhere than in the possession of extremely important, powerful, and wealthy people (at least according to the TES lore; if you've played Morrowind, you no doubt remember that pretty much only faction leaders had ebony armor, and only one NPC had daedric, and it was a level 60 mage who also had several other daedric artifacts in his possession).

THINK the dwemer came from morrowind, there was a big battle between the dwemer [dwarves] and ?lord nerevar? [someone good ie. it says the dwemer were evil] the dwemer became extinct [apart from one living in tel fyr] and a lot of the dwarven stuff survived in ruins etc. mythril is a brand-spanking new thing to come to the elder scrolls though...

I believe that Mithril was in Daggerfall and/or Arena. Not sure.

(The dwemer were a different race of elves who lived in several places in Tamriel, most notably Hammerfell and Vvardenfell. The dwemer scientist Kagrenac devised a plan to build a giant metal god to worship, by creating profane tools to use on the Heart of Lorkhan (the god who created the physical world, who's heart fell to Nirn, creating the Vvardenfell volcano) deep beneath Red Mountain. When Azura told Nerevar of this blasphemy, the Great Houses of Morrowind declared war on House Dwemer, which resulted in the death of Nerevar and Kagrenac. Nerevar was betrayed by his generals, who used the profane tools to become living gods (the Tribunal). Every dwarf in Tamriel then vanished. Most believe the dwemer were either punished for their apostasies or that Kagrenac got them all stuck in Oblivion. The dwemer golem (Numidium or Walk-Brass) was then given by the Tribunal to Tiber Septim, who used it to unite Tamriel into a new Cyrodilic Empire.)

to clear some thoughts, i've played a number of games and here is a list of metals i thought would be from lousest to best usaully used in most games

level 0: paper / cloth / wood / hides

level 1: leather / fur (with quality versions)

level 1b: hard leather

level 2: iron (usually with rusty and quality versions)

level 3: steel (usually with rusty and quality versions)

level 3b: chain (usally in d&d games)

level 3c: scale (usally in d&d games)

level 4: silver (originally meant for killing were-creatures, & ghosts)

level 5a: elven

level 5b-1: dwarven (rusty version found in oblivion) (this one was created for lore purposes in tes i think)

level 5b-2: orchish

level 5c: mithril (supposedly created by dwarfs using magic) (nothing to do with silver) most games portray this as greenish looking color)

level 5d: plate (dull silverish) (usally in d&d games)

level 5e: gold (supposedly to be stronger then plate in some cartoonish games)

level 6a: adamantium (this was supposedly the metal that was indestruible) (some say its a real combination of metals including titanium, carbon and steel) (usually portrayed as bluish) (pronounced as at-da-man-tium)

level 6b: ebony (so far only seen this in tes)

level 6c: deadric (so far only seen this in tes) (apprently this one should seem to be magical)

uncomparable: glass.. seems only tes has it :P sound of it seem to break very easisly lol

That is a very good point about Daedric.

I have a standard formula that I'm using and your comment warrents revising it.

However Daedric is leveled at 30 on my lists, by level 30 there should be PLENTLY of obivion gates in your game, so it think its reasonable a few random people have som daedric boots or whatnot.

And if you win BEFORE lvl 30 then they WILL NEVER have Daedric armor, and the only Daedric armor that exists WILL be on planned NPCS and of course Daedra.

What I'm concerned with is how to approach Dwarven armor.

I want it to be rare, but not a myth. I think the Orcs would have more of it then other races.

I really appreciate all the information about Mithril.

Please send me more.

Lets focus on TES lore too.

Also please check out my new thread on Other items and value.
