I love this mod, but I think there might be a problem. Everything works fine, but it seems like the game only plays one particular thunder sound during storms. I never hear any of the other thunder sounds. Has anyone else had this problem?

 

Oh, I just found this in another thread:

 

"So, after a lot of digging, I've discovered it's an issue with vanilla Oblivion. Oblivion, during a storm, picks one thunder and one distant thunder sound effect, and then repeats them. It randomizes the two sounds chosen every time you enter an interior cell, then exit back out into the storm. I've confirmed this myself. I never noticed this before because I played a thief character for the time I've had these mods and almost exclusively spent time either hopping around between buildings or fast-traveling. Thus, when I made my new character, whom I have been walking everywhere with, the looping became violently apparent.

 

While I've found a mod that adds some randomization, it apparently won't function with Natural Weather / Natural Environments. So, that's a no-go, and unless I find a compatible mod (or figure out how to make my own), I'm mostly just out of luck. Still, I'm glad I discovered the issue.

But, does anyone know of a way to fix that? Is there a randomizing mod out now that's compatible with NE?

I did not even realize that mod changed thunder sounds. I let my weather mod take care of that, along with Storms & Sound.

 

Edit: Natural Weather moves certain file directories, so using weather replacers with it is...not easy. Storms & Sound works with it, however. I recommend using the OBSE version, so grab OBSE if you do not have it. Make sure you are using the fixed version of NW as well.

Well, maybe it doesn't add that. IDK, I'm using Weather - All Natural, so the thunder sounds may be coming from there. And I would use Storms & Sounds, but as we found out, that was causing a never-ending storm when paired with AN. IDK why, either. I wish I could use it.

 

Is Storms and Sounds-SI.esp compatible with Weather - All Natural? I'm using AWS-NE-EW version.

 

EDIT: Well, I guess not even the OBSE version of Storms and Sounds works for me. The storm starts to end, but the second I enter a different cell, the storms goes back to full force.

Oh, oh, right... You should report this issue in the official AN thread. That should not happen, and AN's thunder sounds should vary. I have dropped S&S on occasion (including now) for that reason.

The problem with Storms and Sounds is that, when enabled, any storm becomes perpetual, in that even if it does seem to end (stops raining, birds chirping) it starts back up any time I reload or enter a different cell (building, town, dungeon, etc.).

 

Other than that, there's nothing to report from my end. Nothing else is glitching as far as I know.

 

It's possible that the thunder sounds repeating is an issue.

 

I'm not really sure what else to say. That's all that's wrong for me.

Huh. The issue with perpetual never-ending storms... would someone mind explaining to me what causes that to happen? It seems like it's a conflict with AN, but I just want to confirm that and be sure I'm not misunderstanding?

 

For a while now my game has been plagued by storms. I don't know for sure if they're never-ending. I mean, they do end at times and the sun comes out, but it feels to me like it's always storming out and it is entirely possible that the storm is resetting itself when I move to a different cell. I tend to spend a lot of time in the same areas lately and I definitely notice the "it's raining AGAIN?" thing more when I'm traveling. Feels like it always freakin' starts to rain right when I'm on the road, lol. I honestly never thought that it might LITERALLY be storming EVERY TIME I move to a new cell. Like I said, lately in my game I haven't been traveling too much, and I thought it was just the rainy season in Tamriel... it's Frostfall I think.

 

I don't use All Natural, so if that's what causes the problem of perpetual storms, then I'm right after all and it just happens to rain a lot in my game. I have Storms & Sound along with Enhanced Weather. No AN stuff at all.

Storms & Sound simply increases storm frequency a lot. It is not a bug. I do not like that either. Have you tried using the "startquest strormmenu" command to reduce the frequency? (See the ReadMe for the correct command name if that is not it.)
