Deleted1450742User
I have a problem with entering Rivet City - every time I try I get CTD.The list of current mods I am using: http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/8054/beztytuubvr.th.jpg http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/2176/beztytuu1ru.th.jpgIm creating this topic here because I am sure that mods caused this problem. I turned every one of them except for DLCs and everything worked fine.
fap6000
Hey there bud. I just glanced at yer load order. For one thing it would be too much trouble for me to scan thru that whole list while it's in a image. It also adds work fer me to do that because I can't copy/paste it, as well for anyone else that wanted to take a stab at a diagnosis. A better way, an even probably quicker/less work for you, would be to right click the load order in FOMM an copy load order to clipboard. Then paste that herez askin fer help. But there's like 10,000 posts on help with me load order, so don't expect a quick answer or even a answer at all. First off ya need a system for diagnosis. For one thing avoid pre-concived ideas. Any problem you end up with can either have a very complex cause or a really silly almost stupid small cause. Thankfully most of the time it's small stuff with fallout 3. But we automaticly assume that it's a aweful nasty problem so it must be a aweful complex cause, with is most often not the case. The first step would be duplication of the problem. You want to duplicate it on the main charicter you first noticed it on, and also start a new game and test with a RAOTW charicter. Random A**hole of the wastes. Just a way of saying a random charicter you created an doesn't matter at all, only a charicter for testing purposes. Mind you that you don't change the load order or anything else while you are working to duplicate a problem. The first duplicaton would determine if the problem was random an caused by the few inherent problems in fallout 3, then the second duplication with the RAOTW charicter would rule out if it was a problem contained inside your save games, Namely "coruption" of them. Once you rule out those two above problems. 1. Random, Corupt System cache, and old gamebro engine stuff 2. corupt save games from quick save/auto saves. Then if you still have the problem you know for sure that it's caused by content, an therfore the load order. But in some cases actual content can cause CTD an crashy crashy. For examples a bad 3D mesh can do many things, like crash you if you catch fire, or a weapon missing an animated part will crash when fired too much, among others. Most times if it's actual content causing the problem it's a werid un-heard of problem. Crash when entering a Cell or Crash at Save Game, Crash at entrance to a cell, Are all quite common problems... So I'd say yer problem is in the load order, but at least now you know how to tell. A dead reckoning would be that you have two or more huge frackin overhawl mods. Mods that take a bunch of little mods an merge them together or even just huge mods that a whole team of peoplez created. For example FOOK2 touches on just about half of the content inside the game, FWE does too. Once you have seen them inside FO3edit you'll realize just how much work it takes to fix that stuff. I always say fixing FOOK is like fixing about 60-80 little mods. Takes a few days even working long hours. The problem isn't the quality of the Overhawl mods. However because of the general idea of them when they were created I.E. "totally revamp an change everything to make it super cool" Doesn't leave much to say for compatablity. That being said, even the tiny mods have this problem. There's not really a way for a mod creator to standardize or inject quality control into a new mod. Short of only creating new single entry content in no way connected or related to the vanilla content of the game. This is the same reason why auto-sorters or auto-conflict detectors don't work. Namely that there's 1,000,000 mods out there with 20,000,000 different modders making them, then 100,000,000 players all using the mods together in different combos of load orders. Heck we can't even get a standardized female body or hair an eyes pack. It too late in the game to worry about it. But like take Calibr ammo, that started very early on in the modding world of fallout 3. Probably the only standarized mod we use, but we all knew it was the future so now you see that every player made weapon either uses Calibr or plans on it in the future. Everything else out there isn't standardized, leaving that up to the end-user to fix themself. FOIP Fallout inner operability program works for most noobs, but at the very best it's a generic patch for a custom made load order. Also leaving room for error inside the placement of the FOIP patches, because it doesn't really tell you where to put it, in fact most mods don't. Then the amount of time you would spent trying to figure out the old rules for placement (I.E. Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, Tier 4) You could have already fixed the thing via hard work you put in. FOIP if you use it might could reach a 75% crash free load order, while a Non-FOIP load order created with hard work inside FO3edit would be in the 90% or more range depending on how much you have used FO3edit. Bear in mind though that the load order itself is only about 50% of the overall cause for crashes. With the remaining 50% being split up between 1. 20% system settings, system software, hardware, and set up. 2. 20% FO3edit merge patch of list type data. 3. 10% FO3edit master update, then also mod cleaning I.E. removing identical to masters, setting deleted to disabled, an so on. I reckon there's a super nice guide for this kind of custom work, thanks to CSB http://fallout3nexus...ile.php?id=9616 There are times when you need to just say "IT'S A BUST!" then un-install an start over. Just because that's how you learn how to make the long 4 hour game without crash load orders. Then other times you might just be tired of the load order you created. Over the last year I probably made 20 or more fresh clean installs of fallout 3 along with new mods an load orders. It's still hard to do now. Just yesterday I had to delete two mod's .esp an install it again only to start again on the two hour process of fixing it. I had a crash an remembered the fixes I did were "questionable" So over 2-4 hours I spent trying to figure out how to fix it so it's closer to a 100% clean fix. After it was done I had a nice 4-8 hour game. Takes time working with this stuff to get experience like that. Hang in there. !!!!!!!!TEA MOSTISTZ IMPORTANTZ THINGY THING!!!!!!!!You need a plan before you start. The worst thing you can do is just download a 1000 billon mods an then install them all in one night. Heh, we all did it though. After about 12 load orders or so You'll see that you need a plan. I kind of like the idea of adding small amounts of content over a long period. Seperated by long hours of Boner causing game play. Heh well the alternative is downloading for two days then working 8 hours a day for two weeks to fix it without any game play, or boners for the matter. There are some options you can consider though. 1. Start out with vanilla fallout, install it an tweek it until you know for sure it runs smooth, then test the poop out of it. 2. Begin modding with 40-80 small tiny mods, install them manually as clean as possible, then fix all that with FO3edit, and then test the poop out of it. 3. You could also start out with just one huge freaking overhawl mod (because it's just as hard to fix as 80 small mods) install that, fix that, then test the poop out of it. 4. 40-80 small mods or a huge overhawl are both tons of hard work, it depends on how much of that Major boring crap you can take before you need game play. For example Right now yah I'll dump 80 mods or even 80 mods plus the overhawl before I've fixed it, but I've been doing this for a year. However I'm not doing that right now. Right now I'm slowly adding tiny amounts then testing the crap out of it. I got about 20 mods, installed it then fixed it, tested it. Then a few days later I installed a freaking huge Radio music mod. Fixed it, tested the poop out of it, then turned out it was causing crashes so I installed it again an fixed it again a different way. Tested, It's a 100% clean load order with games lasting as long as I want to play without any crashes. Woke up the day after the test games, an felt strong (like I could do some work) installed a new sexy body mod an some clothing for it, as a seperate job on top of me load order, then tested that an had fun. Woke up the day after that an felt even stronger (like I could take more of this super boring crap) Then downloaded a Poop ton worth of eye's hair race mods as a job, which will require lots of work overriding an merging. Soon I'll test that. Also the pinned topics here are always informative, yah I just wing it, but I started out reading an reading for hours here on Nexus. To tell the truth there's still a whole bunch of stuff I just don't have time to read about. Heh so I just wing it, but it's based off whatever knowlege I gained when I started out, along with experience along the way.

fap6000
Also I noticed that the new FOMM you have to click the load order tab at the top in order to copy load order to clipboard, sorry the old versions you could just right click the list.
