Vrayth
My Oblivion INI keeps changing to combine all the settings side by side in the text document like an essay, instead of one setting under the other. This causes my game to stutter, and use 35% more memory/vram. What's causing this to happen frequently when I start or exit the game, is there a way to stop oblivion from collapsing the ini into a wall of text? bben46
It's not the game doing that - it's the program you opened the ini with loosing the formatting. What are you using to open the ini file? Open with notepad ( built into windows) http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/notepad-faq#1TC=windows-7As the formatting is already borked it will likely open as the wall of text.you will likely have to place the cursor at the end of each entry and hit the enter key. This should allow you to recover it.Be sure to save it when you close. DO NOT try to use someone elses ini - as the ini is based on your hardware not theirs - and it will be different. Vrayth
I was using notepad to open it, I'm using my own ini that I tweaked and saved, so that I can replace the messy one each time it happens. I just checked notepad++ and it loaded it in order, while normal notepad was still showing a wall of text right after. When ever I replace the unorganized ini, with the one I saved notepads shows it as organized, I check it before I launch the game each time, but if I exit and relaunch the game again it usually gets back unorganized. While notepad++ shows it correctly the file is still messed up, and it will still affect my game.
discovery1
you do have your notepad set to word wrap?
Vrayth
No, word warp is turned off, I just looked up what it was and where to find it.
discovery1
Word wrap needs to be on to make sense of the ini
bben46
If it works with notepad++ then just use that - ++ is an expanded and updated version that has more features that are used by programmers. It works fine as a basic text editor.
