New Graphic Card

Hello @ell46, long time no see. If you still play DAO, you wont see much increase of your performance, unless you upgrade your processor too, and that´s not possible, since it has socket 754, wich is not available anymore. So new motherboard new CPU new GFX= new PC

I think that a new GFX on this board would be waste of good money to be honest

And don´t listen to @Dark0ne, I have had Nvidia cards for 20 years now, and never had a problem

Hiya, how are you? Yes I'm still playing... well just about maybe a couple more play throughs with ideas I haven't tried, but knowing me it might only be a part play through. I am fed up seeing all the uploaded images here with rich metallic colours and me with flat boring colours in my graphics, no golds, no metallic just ugh!!!

My previous card was Nvidia and from memory I didn't have any complaints, just needed to upgrade the old PC. Umm it does sound like a complete upgrade is needed, but I refuse to install Win7. I was a bit worried with talk I'd read in various places about the drivers for the ATI cards at the moment.

Thank you very much for your input, I foresee a big online shopping spree coming up soon, my card is beginning to cause other problems so I can't leave it much longer or I could end up with no PC at all.

If you really want to stick with good ol´ XP, that´s no problem, you are just stuck with the 4 GB RAM cap, and that´s okay for now. When the day comes with a new game you most have, you can decide, and upgrade then. Only remember to get a motherboard that supports something like 8 or 16 gigs of RAM.

OK the shopping spree is over and we have come up with little lot, the only big problem for me is I've got to go to Win 7, I really hate M$oft. What do you think good choice or bad choice?
