Oh Not again (another oblivion problem)

Recommended Posts

You need to replace your shaders. Your game should be patched to the latest version. If you already have GOTY and installed disc 2, your game is already patched. The Shader package uploaded hear is for the latest version.

Important Downloads! - http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/lists/downloads <-- Install the latest patch if you need to. Then delete your Shaders, and replace it with the download from TESNexus.

What do you mean by un-corrupted... That is definitely a corrupt shader problem. Remove Crafty Bits for now. This is a terrible problem. Are you sure you replaced the shaders properly? Is your game patched to the latest version? This has nothing to do with BSAs.

That kind of rainbow effect can happen if you're not using large textures in the game video options. It's something to do with how the dds file is compressed or something like that, and can cause corruption when using small or medium texture options.

I'm not a texturer but I know a couple of mods I have used to have that problem for some people..ie the Blackwood armour in Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul and certain icons in MMM, but they were fixed a long time ago. The temporary solution before they were fixed was to use select large textures in the game options.

Are you using any other mods? Texture replacers? Does your video card support shader 2.0?

With little information to go on it's difficult to offer a solution.

You mean the missing mipmaps thing... I thought that might've been it. I should have checked that picture. Switching to large textures would fix it then.

As TomLong originally said. 90% of the time this is caused by a corrupt texture file.

The other 10% is what Maigrets said, using anything except the large textures selected in the video options. Try changing the texture size in the video options first. If that doesn't work, replace the shader files.

The shader files are located in the Oblivion\Data\shaders folder

Purple ground with repeating tiny maps of the Imperial City

This is caused by corrupted shaders.

Here is a link to the proper file that allows you to replace them without having to reinstall

Thanks to Qwaxalot for this tip

Setting your textures to "Large" should be the winner.
