sorron
I've played Dragon Age through 5 times so far, with one more character just started. I gave each character I made a distinct personality, influenced by the situation I perceived in their origin stories, as well as different classes/builds. After doing this, and wasting nearly 300 hours playing Dragon Age, I'm curious about how similar/different other people have grafted their characters. So, I want you all to post your character name, class, weapon(s) of choice, origin and a sentence or two about their personality. No spoilers, please. These are in the order that I played them. Mine are: Malcolm - Warrior - Human Male - Human Noble - Sword and Shield: Malcolm is what I perceived to be the stereotypical warden. He will do anything possible to stop the blight, including putting on a dress and dancing the marigold as well as killing lots of people. I also gave him a thirst for revenge, and I sated that thoroughly when I imported him to Awakenings. For those of you who played the Human Noble Origin, you know what I mean. Did the dirty deed with Morrigan. Ryal - Mage - Human Male - Magi - Spirit Magic (Gives Thaumaturgist achievement when you get all the spirit spells): Witty, perverse, morbid, highly intelligent, and persuasive. He dislikes attention and doesn't like the idea of killing much. Hates the chantry for oppressing him his entire life, to the point of betraying a certain somebody in his origin story. Despite this, he ends up with Leliana. Mya - Rogue - Female Elf - City Elf - Dual Wielding: Sly, greedy and beautiful. The stereotypical vixen is the role she plays. Except...she falls for the good boy in the end. Her greed separates her from her kin in her origin story, but she manages to repent by the end of the game. Not everything ends well for her, however, and the love of her life leaves her to be king because she chose to spare a certain somebody. She refuses to die, no matter the cost. Adrian - Warrior - Male Dwarf - Dwarf Noble - Two-Handed Weapon: Arrogant, prideful and violent. The epitome of the tyrannical nobility. This fratricidal, homicidal maniac killed most of who should have helped him, aside from the drunken, miniature miscreant; the bronze tower and the traitorous general. He is mad for power, glory and revenge, and this eventually claimed his life. An honorable death for a very dishonorable man. Darius - Rogue - Male Human - Orlesian Warden - Dual Wielding: The counterpart for Adrian in Awakenings. He is an older Warden from Orlais, with near-legendary skills with the blade...and his ability to take in alcohol. A politician at heart and a Warden by necessity, history knows no man more capable than he to preside over Vigil's Keep and the events in Amaranthine. Despite his bravado, a kinder man has never been known. (Yes, the contrast with Adrian was intentional.) Theron - Warrior - Male Elf - Dalish Elf - Bow and Arrow: Wild, proud and fearsome, this elf can shoot the droplets from a sneezing fly at 100 paces. He is carefree, able bodied and strong of heart. He knows little and cares as much for human society, including the chantry and their views on magic. As such, he is not afraid of it as most sane men are. He'd perform a dark ritual without so much as a second thought, and he'd enjoy it too. Faren - Warrior - Male Dwarf - Dwarf Commoner - Dual Wielding: A shadowy, neglected existence has left a macabre shell indeed. He'll drink and joke with you and just as soon shove a blade up your spine once you look away. He is not without mercy, however, if you know what to offer. His life has shoveled dirt on what should have been a proud, noble heart. Perhaps his journey as a Grey Warden will uncover it again? All of these characters but Faren have played through the game in its entirety. So, what characters do you guys have?
SaturnC
Mostly male mages (humans and elves) that love both Alistair and Zev. I have almost 200 characters I've made over the last few months and am long past evolving stories around them although it sounds like you should write a few fanfic stories about your characters. You are very close to them. ;)
sorron
Mostly male mages (humans and elves) that love both Alistair and Zev. I have almost 200 characters I've made over the last few months and am long past evolving stories around them although it sounds like you should write a few fanfic stories about your characters. You are very close to them. ;) It seems people go through characters quite frequently. I can understand your lack of desire to emotionally invest yourself in a character you may delete a few hours later. I have considered writing fan fiction, but I lack time and motivation. If I did it would probably only be a single scene, and the Warden would be an object of focus, but not the titular character. Rather, I'd use an external minor character, like an unnamed guard fighting the Warden, to describe the scene and the prowess of the Warden. Of course, the scene would end with the brutal death of the minor character. If only I had the time. I don't do much planning of the back stories of the characters, however. I usually just use what information I have of the environment the Warden grew up with and apply its effects to a base character dynamic. In the case of Feran, the environment was a harsh, poverty stricken life filled with the committing of illegal activities as heinous as murder. His base character was a snide, cocky and evasive flirt. Put the two together and you get a rough-around-the-edges, slightly prideful man who has become accustomed to, and even humorous about, his dangerous line of work. Whatever I end up with drives the decisions the character makes in the game, and that fleshes him out.
andreweve1
I must say that was a good read of your characters sorron! I've only made 3 characters: My first character Andy, was a Human Male - Noble - Rogue, but started a new character shortly after, I got a bit bored with him. Another character was just a Human Mage to see what that start was like....... ------------------------------------------------------------------- But my all-time favorite and current character is Balin. A Male - Dalish Elf - Rogue. He uses both a Bow and Dual Blades, but prefers the Bow. He loves (or loved) Hunting and Exploring with his best friend Tamlen. Doesn't much care for Humans, but doesn't have any grudges against them either, he really just finds them incredibly boring. Although he loves Adventure and Exploring, he has no interest in becoming a Grey Warden and fighting against the Darkspawn. He just wants to live his life in the Forest, but has no choice in the matter. He is quick to trust people, but has a pretty good sense of character. He's never too proud to admit if he's wrong, and will quickly make up for any mistakes he might make. He fell in love with Zevran the second he saw him laying on the ground after their encounter, discovering a more romantic side of himself.
tinylewtgriffon
My charecters usually follow the same paths as the ones before them, except in cases of relationships. Sometimes I try to mix it up by siding with someone new.
elooocin
sorron I love your characters! I always approach every character I create from an rp standpoint, even get all nerdy in terms of considering how they feel and think of every situation and person they come across. The possibilities and the many options are what make DAO my favorite game of all time! I have completed the game 5 times but lost some characters with a computer crash during that time *sigh* But let me try to remember them all :D Kirsten - my first character, an elf mage, who I really did not put too much thought into b/c I was far too excited about playing to really think of it in terms of rp that first time! I just know I got soooooooooo sad that I couldn't marry Alistair and was totally mean to him after that! LOL!http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/ss51/elooocin/DragonAge/dao2_0020_Layer4.jpg Abigail - Human - Mage ___________________http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/ss51/elooocin/DragonAge/DAOrigins2009-12-3108-20-52-40.pngMajor Talents - Spirit & CreationClasses - Spirit Healer & ShapeshifterPersonality - Goody two-shoes who ran to Irving for everything and would not dare do anything to offend or upset anyone. She does not like how magic will not let her lead a normal life but strives to make the best of what the Maker gave her by helping everyone she can. Abby fell in love with Alistair and in the end sacrificed herself in order to save the new king. Cara - Human - Noble ___________________Looks - Average skin tone, dark brown hair, brown eyesMajor Talents - Duel weaponsClasses - Assassin & DuelistPersonality - Spoiled & sly Cara loves nothing more than getting her way and dipping her sneaky hands into everyone's pockets along the way. She loves to have fun and make all the boys drool as she goes about her perfect life. So the tragedy of her home really shocked the very foundation of who she was. Once she became a Warden Cara was driven by revenge and heartache, which is what drew her to Alistair. His lightheartedness was exactly what she needed and why she would always take his side in any situation. In the end she realized how much she needed him to complete the shell of who she became after her origin story & persuaded him to go through the ritual with Morrigan so they could rule Ferelden together in the end - frankly he needed her to make him a strong king :P Sarim - Human - Noble ___________________Looks - Short black hair, average skin tone, blue eyesMajor Talents - Weapon & ShieldClasses - Champion & TemplarPersonality - Noble to the core & a tease Sarim was all about doing his duty and having as much fun as possible while doing so. He would kiss the females in Redcliffe as 'payment' for helping them even if Leliana & Morrigan, who he romanced, disagreed. In the end Leliana grew too needy which grated on his nerves & he left her before becoming king by Anora's side. Koko - Elf - Mage (my favorite character so far!!!)___________________http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/ss51/elooocin/DragonAge/Koko/daoKOKO_0060_Layer-6.pngMajor Talents - Primal & EntropyClasses - Arcane Warrior & Blood MagePersonality - EVIL! Her soul is dark and she cares for no one but herself! The suffering of others brings her little black heart great joy & every decision she made in the game was decided by this. Wynne left after declaring she hoped the darkspawn took her! (lmao!!!), Leliana was kicked out of the group for annoying her with the Maker talk and Sten was always disapproving, he is such a closet prude, & Alistair always hated her and ended up leaving when she let Loghain in the party! But Zev & Morrigan adored her evilness and the three of them got along fabulously! And because of this Z & Koko were always getting it on and in the end ran off together! Awakening - still being evilshttp://i561.photobucket.com/albums/ss51/elooocin/DragonAge/Koko/daoKOKO_0023_Layer-46.pngThe only character I imported and once again continued her evil ways! She sided with the one guy in the end which caused 2 party members to attack her, lulz. She was just loads of fun, and if no one has played evil you really should just for the lulz! Redcliffe was destroyed b/c of her not to mention she got to b*tch slap Isolde :X It was just REALLY interesting seeing the 'other' side of the game and the consequences of that! Sometimes I felt really bad but kept true to the character and was really glad I did! ________________ Currently about to start a dwarf noble this weekend with a friend who wants me to play the game through with her since she has never played this type of game before and is nervous. Going to make her duel weapon b/c that is my favorite and noble b/c my friend is doing that as well. And now I am playing a city elf named Ella but gosh I have written way to much I will stop now!*flops off* I LEAVE U WIT DISS!http://i561.photobucket.com/albums/ss51/elooocin/DragonAge/Koko/daoKOKO_0001_Layer-68.png Edit: added pics of characters I had saved :D Edited May 13, 2010 by elooocin
