Blah blah blah Mod Troubles

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm very new at modding and really not great with computers in general so I apologize in advance for any stupid questions. I'm trying to mod for the first time and have been using OBMM. I seem to be doing things right as far as that, I'm successfully creating omods and activating them. However, when I actually launch the game, the mods don't appear as they should. I go to the character creation screen and I either see the name of my mod showing up yet nothing happening to the character, or the mod having the wrong effect. For example, I just recently downloaded an eye mod package with several different anime-ish styled eyes, yet when I try and put them on the character in the creation screen every single one just turns the entire eye a creepy black. Also despite the fact that I have the same number of mods activated at any time, a random amount of them will actually appear when I launch the game. Why can I not get the mods to work the way they should?

Eyes turning black is a sign or missing normals. Make sure the mod has been installed properly. Also, make sure you set BSA Redirection in OBMM (Utilities > Archive invalidation.) If you are not using the GOTY edition, you should also install the latest patch. Furthermore, if you are not using WinXP, you should have Oblivion installed outside of the Program Files folder (i.e., in C:\Games\Bethesda Softworks\).
