SpellAndShield
I have to say, my favourite warrior is my 2 handed templar/champion, I can wade through mages and kill them with area shouts, make my party better with one rally, and keep standing when most things attack me. When I tried the same with my dual weapon warrior, getting knocked off my feet all the time made most of the buff skills useless, so I guess it's all a matter of gameplay and style. Find what works for you, follow it through. I find beserker better with 2H warriors...because templay talents rely on repeated, quick hits... Why do you think champion is good? just curious. roninsoul7
Champion is the most defensive of the original specializations, and with a 2 handed warrior, you do lose out on some of the extra armor and enchantment slots a shield would add, plus the concept for the character was a stoic defender. With champion/templar, and the 2 handed ability to remain standing when most others would be knocked on their keesters, it made sense for me at least. My human warrior will stand and rally his fellows to continue battling with that combination, long after the berserker self-damage makes him fall back to recuperate from self-inflicted wounds. It also keeps with the rpg element I force onto even the worst rpg games I have come across. In WoW, I never changed my warriors armour for 20 levels, because the set he had looked good to me, others complimented the look as well, though the stats left a lot to be desired, I still muddled my way through. Lehcar
I agree, the warrior specializations are overall pretty crappy and not very useful at all. Honestly the only specialization I can find any use for is the Berserker specialty, but only because I really like that nice little attack/foe damage boost that Berserk gives you. Mages don't fare too badly; frankly I think the Shapeshifter spec is the only one that isn't very useful. Just too much of a hassle to use the abilites and it doesn't help me slaughter enemies any more efficiently. Haven't explored any of the Rogue specializations yet, since I haven't really played with a rogue yet but I definitely must do that with my next character! From what I've read though, they actually sound pretty good...

When my shapeshifter morphed into a bear at level 25 or so I had an armour rating of 80+, did 200+ damage with each paw swat and had over 700hp...deadly... TheReveller
All specializations are good, it only depends on how you play and what you like. Some people prefer rogues, some other prefer mages, and some other prefer warriors. Then some prefer to be a healer or doing heavy damage, some prefer defense, ... I think it's unique to every people. I made a Human Noble Warrior using sword, shield and heavy armor with specializations Champion, Berserker and Spirit Warrior (Awakening) and I find it a pretty good combination. I remember fighting a Dragon and let all my party members die while the Dragon still had half of its life and finish the job alone. When I'm surrounded, doing a War Cry to knock all the enemies down while my party continues to attack them is pretty useful. (I haven't tried many things yet I had only time to finish the game once with my warrior, but now I want to try a rogue using a bow since I saw my party member in Awakening doing over 1000 damage with an arrow, I was like "Eh... Wow ?") It also depends on how strategic you want to play, what kind of strategy and what difficulty level you play... Playing normal difficulty and spending all my money on my character, he could just hack and slash alone using health potions sometimes, if needed. princelusto
i think you guys are all thinking of warriors being damagers a little to much, consider the warriors job to be disruption, and you'll realise that yes actually they are brilliant. champions can change the flow of a battle by knocking all the enemies nearby flat on they're asses, templars can wade through the blizzard spell without consequence while all your enemies are frozen and then proceed to rape ass. consider the warrior a support character designed for middle class damage. spets21
guys it all depends on yer playing style and the party line up combat tactics you use on your individual party members, as for me i usually use 2 rouges assassin/bard and assassin/ranger that would be leliana/zev in DAO and in DAOA nate/sigrun both of them are using archer/ranged tactics and a mage as a supporter/healer that would be Wynne Healer/Bloodmage to paralyze enemies head on i love the approval bonus she gets on willpower when approval is maxed & in Awake that would be Anders he's just like a diff version of Allister lol and a comic relief and of course me as a full tank 1hand sword/shield /champion/reaver/guardian my combat tactics on a warrior is to taunt+war cry to knock them out and frightening appearance and the rouges can pick them off 1 by 1 as they are my main damage dealer in game. Ability and tactics they use are arrow of slaying + scatter-shot sustained abilities are aiming w/ a rapid aim combo that's my playing style ..... now it all depends on how you use and utilize the abilities and tactics of each of your party members that suits yer playing style i believe the warrior skills are just okay as it is but there are skills in DAO that pisses me off sometimes like i said " Taunt " some times tho when you use this skill to the enemies charging towards you and your party members they just pass by through you lawl and ignoring you completely
danscott84
spets21 you hit the nail on the head. It's not just what they do but how you use them. My party always has at least one Ranger/Archer (Leliana), Mage (controller tactics), Defender (I like Oghren even with a 2handed weapon) and a Scrapper (myself as warrior). War Cry on the 4th level (Champion maxed) and Holy Smite are good for knocking enemies down while I move in to strike. The Ranger always adds another tank to the mix to take the damage. In areas I know are going to have hoards of enemies (Deep Roads) Zevran the Ranger joins instead of the Mage just to make a party of 6.
spets21
yea as Ive said it all depends on yer playing style Btw you can add dog if you have extra dog slot that would be 7 in the party all in all XD  2 rangers + 2 summon + dog + any & PC its a bit chaotic tho controlling 7 chars at the same time so you need to pause a lot in combat lol summon creature tend to die so fast

Very chaotic in battle.
