TES Construction Set has stopped working...

Hey guys/girls, this is my first forum topic here.

I'm getting started on a quest mod I'd like to make, so I'm led (for the first time) to the Topics and Conversation tabs of the Quest Window. Whenever I attempt to edit or add a new response, TESCS crashes with the typical Windows Vista " [insert program here] has stopped working..." Presumably this error has existed since I first installed the construction set a month or two ago (I believe, anyway, because I've never had to use the Quest Window before).

Any help or suggestions? Thank you

If you modded anything, you probably did something wrong that messed it up? I don't know. That's what happened to me though. I had to reinstall my Oblivion game clean and reinstall the TES Construction set.

If it's not that then I don't know. I have Windows XP.

What directory is your Oblivion installed in? If it is in Program Files (x86), then you need to uninstall and reinstall Oblivion and the CS in a different directory to avoid the problems that windows UAC/security causes.

Thanks for all the help guys, by doing some internet searching I found the fix. Apparently with Windows Vista (or maybe all Windows versions, not sure), a microphone needs to be plugged in when you edit dialogue and topics, presumably because the CS conducts a search for all necessary equipment when you go to edit something. Popped in my logitech mic/headset, set it to the side, now working like a charm.

Thank you! I've been banging my head on this issue for while now. Microphone was indeed the issue! It's odd that CS needs it.

It apparently only needs it for Vista. I've used the TESCS on win 2000, win xp, and win 7 without having to bother with a microphone.
