zany chimp
There's this really annoying seam on the neck. This has happened even with the vanilla oblivion. Does anyone know of a texture mod or something that can get rid of the seam?
Tomlong54210
It is part of the mesh quirks. It takes a lot of work to reduce the seam. Edit: For vanilla females you can try Miss Onatopp's replacer - http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10957 <-- recommended for use with one of Enayla's Face Texture mods. (I think she is referring to the original Enayla Face Textures.)
Megatarius
You basically have to do it yourself. Download GIMP. It's free. Download the GIMP .dds file format plugin. Open the upper body texture file and the face texture file. It should be found in Data/Textures/Characters/ and whatever race you play as. They're the ones that don't have _n at the end. Ignore those files. Load mipmaps each time. If you don't use any body mods, then these files will not be there. You'll have to unpack the Textures.bsa with .bsa unpacker. Save them into the above file structure. I strongly recommend that before you edit any files, you make a folder called Backups and copy them into it. Yes they have the seam, but that's better than nothing if you make a mistake and ruin the texture. In the upper body texture, use the color picker tool to select a color near where the neck ends on the texture. This is not always obvious. The color picker is that blue eye dropper thing in the second row. In the face texture, use the paintbrush tool to paint that color all around where the neck ends on the face. Again it's not always obvious. For best results, select any of the brushes with fuzzy in their name. Look at the bottom of the toolbar, under the Opacity slider. Now, save the files as the same exact name, and in the same exact place. Good thing you backed up the old ones. Generate mipmaps, and use BC3 / DXT5 Compression. Now the game will use the new textures if they are saved in the right place with the right name. This should work. I've never done it. I just put up with the seams for now. I do, however, know what I'm talking about when it comes to graphics editing, so let me know if you have a problem. Another option is to go back in time and stand over the texture guy at Bethesda on the Friday night when he was working late on those neck seams, forcing him to finish before going drinking with this buddies. zany chimp
I do, however, know what I'm talking about when it comes to graphics editing Well i don't! =P it sounds really complicated... too much for me to learn at the moment. I'll probably release something to fix it when I got the skills, but by then TES VI will be out! In the meantime, Enayla's textures will do quite nicely! =)
Megatarius
I'm glad to hear you got something to get around it. It's not really that complicated, but it is intimidating at first.
