elooocin
I have not been very active on this forum but I just really want a place where I can talk about this game with other people who love it so I am here to stay and bother you guys it looks like. :X Anyway, I have a question. Since I am a newbie I do not want to start a topic and people think it's stupid or that I have lost my mind ... though the fact it may be too late for my mind is a debate for another day. My question is: Is it appropriate to start a thread here for the simple fact of sharing pictures from our games? I love using fraps to snap pictures during my game play yet I never have a place to really show them and talk about what is going on in my game and would really love a place to do that! So please let me know if that is okay or if there is already a thread I couldn't find just for this. :) Thank you in advance!
Sferzar
Well, you can do that in the image section, considering it creates a new thread and includes the image you have uploaded. Getting people to check your thread is another thing entirely since most people tend to ignore them.
elooocin
So you cannot simply create a thread in the Spoiler section and include pictures that way with coding? Why do you have to create a thread just for yourself? Seems so selfish and lonely! LOL! Like how I did here for example on another forum. And I would probably stick to that forum ... since it's mine and all lol ... but not as many people play it there and I would love to not only show off my pictures but see other people's as well :) Oh well :(
VGfallout
tell you what elooo, i am also new to this place (says since 06, but i didnt discover this till..a month ago if that, by an "accidental" click on nexus) and can understand not wanting to annoy its senior members, i found myself asking one of the friendlier people on here the exact same question that you created a Thread for, especially since blast anyones eyes at the rate that i type, on top of being easily distracted and even speaking off topic half of the time - see i am doing it right now by telling you my emotional problems :p hahah seriously, this is what i think, and the approach i am also going to take, wether or not it gets me killed remains to be seen treat this place like your real life, so to speak, as far as acting on instinct, making a thread if it "feels" right or is something of interest to you, and i can guarantee 9/10 it'll be just fine. the worst that could happen is - absolutely nothing, which is what happens in the event of hesitation regardless, no? i have no other outlet to discuss gaming related things, online or otherwise, can be kinda dull when u cant chit-chat or BS about stuff you likei say go for it, make a thrad with screenshots, and bring up random conversation, who wants to be in a place where you're walking on egg shells anyway, rite? in my case only thing i worry about is changing topics 5 times within 1 reply, its a tunnel vision attention kinda thingdo it ,do as you please (obviously u arent gonna do anything Crazy or against rules, i mean aside from hat) and carry yourself as you would in your everyday life so far i have been received surprisingly well and im pretty insane, plus, if no one responds to your threads, they probably werent gonna interact with ya in the first place, and who wants to "post to please", or only participate in topics discussions etc that are Approved by those Before you, for they were once new as well etc, etc -rants for about another 2000 words then ends it with do your thing, i know i plan on doin mine ;] edited to maek sure...about something heh Edited May 14, 2010 by veteran_gamer
elooocin
Thank you so much for the reply! And yes, I have been a member of forums where older members go nuts if a newbie jumps in with too much enthusiasm! LOL! Even the 2 forums I run I have to chastise older members for jumping down a poor n00b's head, so I am always cautious when coming to a new place. And I was especially cautious here since I did not see anything like what I wanted to do - which made me nervous. So thank you for the reply and I will definitely post that thread as soon as I edit some picture sizes down in the next day or so :D Thanks again for replying and everyone here seems so nice, very glad I stumbled across this in the same way you did! *passes out cookies*

roninsoul7
eloocin, when in doubt, it is better to ask forgiveness than ask for approval. That being said, I jumped right in these forums, and continue to do so at random, and so far the response has been summed up as "Heya new person, welcome to our little slice of the 'net, grab a chair and chat with us for awhile!" so you shold be safe. bben46
Welcome to the Nexus. We do have a special place just for screen pics. On the home page of each game, look to the right and find "Image Share" It allows viewing adding and commenting on each pic. So anyone who is interested can look. You can also link to your pics from a forum post. Or link to pics in photo sites such as photobucket that allow links. The reason they are not in the forums is they take up too much bandwidth, especially when multiple pics are put into a single thread. This causes the page they are on to take a long time to load. We do allow pics in forum posts for troubleshooting problems, And you are not going to be banned - or even chastised for an occasional pic in the forums. But we really prefer links to the pics so it will load faster.
