Celestin
I'm sorry if somebody already posted this before, but I couldn't find it so here I am asking. Every single time I start a character now, after the first fight where Captain Renault dies and you fight the rats, my game crashes shortly afterwards. I hear the sound of one of the game pop-ups appearing but I don't see anything and the game crashes. This doesn't seem to happen when I stay outside of the hole in the wall, but within seconds after entering the hole in the wall, the game crashes when the pop-up tries to appear. What I have tried:The new patch, deleting my old oblivion.ini file, deleting save files ( have them backed up ) and even reinstalling. Nothing seems to work! It is frustrating me to no end because I can't even get past the first 5 minutes of the game and I really want to start a new character. Everything was working before, but now, it's just kaput. My system specs:AMD X2 4400+Sapphire XT1900XT2 GB DDR433250 GB Western DigitalSoundblaster X-Fi Platinum I also use a no-DVD crack ( I honestly find it almost unbearble to play a game requiring you to have the disk in the drive ) and various mods. Stampede
You don't need the disk in the drive. You only need it until the title screen basically. :P I eject my DVD anytime during the game. I'd say your problem is installing rubbish no-DVD cracks. Do not mention crap like that on the forums again. Also, try running it without any of the plugins activated. Celestin
I have tried running it without the mods and a disk in the drive. Before I got my computer, I had a laptop that unfortunately endured an incident involving a friend and a cup of coffee and this laptop had Oblivion installed too. I have mounted the laptop harddrive to my computer and attempted to run Oblivion off the laptop harddrive and I am still having no success. Some fatal error just keeps appearing at that very moment. ex128
i see you have a Sapphire XT1900XT, try looking for updated drivers Dont use a no-dvd crack. There is a better way to keep your DVD safe, but this this not the place to discuss such things. Turn down all your settings and try again. [ish, how many times have i said this?] "attempted to run Oblivion off the laptop harddrive" - are you still trying to run it off the laptops HDD? Try a different HDD [coffee could have done something to it]
Erlkoenig
You should really transfer those files to another hard drive before any more damage is done.
