Incessant CTD on Startup

I recently reinstalled Oblivion after it somehow...broke. Since I'm re-modding it at the moment, I decided to get the stuff I like or the stuff that's relatively important first. Now, for some reason which, despite my best efforts, I cannot seem to discern, Oblivion CTDs every time I start up. At first, I believed it to be an issue with master files, but that doesn't appear to be the case...and according to Wrye Bash everything is perfectly fine.

 

Anyone have any idea/suggestions/answers? I'm at a dead end.

Did you run your load order through BOSS? Do you have missing masters, red check boxes? Did you install the cosmetic pack for COBL Races? Try regenerating the Oblivion.ini too.

I always use BOSS, so that's not an issue, and as I said, Wrye Bash is indicating no errors, missing masters, weird LO issues, etc. I'll look into the cosmetics pack, and try the .ini as well, and see what happens.

Sorry about that. I should have read more closely. I am a little on the jumpy side today. I will try to calm down now, haha...

 

 

Edit: I am pretty sure those last six are plugins BOSS did not recognize. If you can give me a short description of what each on is, I can help you place them in a more appropriate location. If you want to do that yourself...

Edit: I only mentioned the cosmetic pack because it is a separate download, and sometimes separate downloads are overlooked.

Sorry about that. I should have read more closely. I am a little on the jumpy side today. I will try to calm down now, haha...

 

 

Edit: I am pretty sure those last six are plugins BOSS did not recognize. If you can give me a short description of what each on is, I can help you place them in a more appropriate location. If you want to do that yourself...

Hah, quite understandable. There's a great deal to be jumpy about in the world today.

 

The .ini regeneration appears to have worked. Everything runs smoothly with it back to the default. I find it a bit strange that the .ini was the issue, considering only a few superficial settings (borders, screenshots) were different...but whatever the case, my problem has been solved. I actually looked at the .ini before, but it seemed fine to me o.O Guess that goes to show...something. My mild incompetence, perhaps.

Is your game patched to the current version 1.2.416? My First line reads Oblivion.esm(SI) I would try and deactivate your current mods one by one until you find a culprit(03,0C,0D,11,18 and 1A-I dont have these mods. Most of the rest are clothing mods and zzestrus usually tells you if you dont have a current version of OBSE). at leat you don't have to go through 177 different esp's

I think that Oblivion just spontaneously messes things up on occasion. Anyhew, you can find some more recommended INI tweaks on the Oblivion.ini Tweaks page on that site, if you're interested...
