DemonxBlood
So over the pass... some months... I have been experimenting with blender... learning tutorials and other stuff that have been time consuming and here is the results of my hard work. http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/567/61641718.th.jpg http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/4346/83572190.th.jpg http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/373/85395330.th.jpg essentially this was meant to be the blood dragon mage set i made a while back, there is also a proper mage hood, but thats under contruction... so far the model i am happy with, but i can't seem to fine NOT ONE... good tutorial that explains to me in any good way to produce a new texture, import the bones properly or get it ready to be used in the toolset... can anyone care to give me a link to such things or explains it to me in a easy way? VGfallout
i hear you my friend, loud and clearly, i as well would REALLY like to find some bone rigging tutorials, and export requirements so that custom models can be imported successfully without SUFFERING to find out how :] we know that it IS possible because we see many custom "outfits" released, usually by the same people obviously, but its proofi will look out for anything i can during this time, and maybe you could do the same too, anything i discover that is useful i will post here, and maybe you could do the same too after i finish some other things, i will eventually try export experimention with animations especially and how to keep skeletons working/not brokenalso friend, have you tried using the gmax importer and exporter, is compatible with autodesk/3ds versions of max i installed GMAX out of curiosity and it worked perfectly, i have not try exporting with it, maybe you will have better luck with this?i have never used blender and perhaps its the best one for dragon age, i just do not like its UI http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=895 <-3ds/gmax imp/exporter also friend, i cannot find ANYTHING, and i mean NOTHING/NADA on LOD creation, in many other engines LOD's sometime use "basic" skeleton of the original, removing "special function" joints etc, i do not know how it is for this one, i am sorry to add more questions and not solutions anyone else reading this that may able to chime in, please do, so we may hopefully be able to create a user friendly how to thread eventually
Firinneach
Sorry if I'm misunderstanding you guys, but are you just wondering how to do a bone weight copy? That is, where you take the bones of an existing mesh from the toolset and transfer them to your custom mesh? Or are you wondering how to design a completely new bone rigging structure? I don't know anything about the second option, but If it's the first thing then pm me and I could write you a guide on how to do it in blender. DarkeWolf
Firin- doing an article on it, would actually be more beneficial, if I may suggest. That way its there for anybody and everybody to see, and if you need to reference it again in the future, it will save you a lot of typing all over again. It would also make it easier for others to find, while following your advice, or posting a link to it for others. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/articles/ the articles section, there's a link for Post an Article I did one to help out with all the folks that are having probs installing NBaiO, cause I got tired of typing out how to do it over and over and over again, lol.I will go ahead and mention tho, if you decide to go that route, and if you type it out in notepad before submitting.... Turn off word-wrap (if you use it) in notepad before doing your CnP. It can screw up your spacing formatting when pasting it into the article submission text box. For texture work, I've never been good at figuring those out. I guess I just dont have the eyes to figure out that whole "wrap-around" stuff.I have seen programs tho, which allow you to paint the textures directly onto the mesh. Such as Mudbox (tho the 2010 edition has issues with vista and win7 I have heard), 3d-Coat, and Zbrush. These same progs also let you paint your UV settings directly on the mesh. Tho I dont know if this is anything special over Blender or 3dsmax/Gmax. I havent actually used any of these tho, so I cant say how well they work, or how easy they are to use.Speaking of... you can also find Gmax for free, which would allow you to use the 3dsmax scripts for your import/export.
