kirshan
I working on a Mod that includes Medieval Space travel ( no hi-tech stuff, magic based travel) Need some help building "outerspace". ok looking more for guidance. I've tried a few different things in the CS but can't seem to get the night sky wrapped around on all sides of me. So basically I need to put a ship into a very large bottle with stars, planets and nebula's , textured on the inside. any ideas on how to bring this vision to light? I have no modeling skills or I would actually try the big bottle/sphere/box idea. Thanks for the input.Kirshan I may have posted this in the wrong forum
crispychaney
why not make it a submarine in a bottle? have it so they can breathe underwater and put them so far under they would never know? would work with the whole gravity thing. think you would still need some kind of water shader though to change the way it looked. David Brasher
I think you could probably get away without doing any modeling. I think you could probably just do it with retexturing. You could take a version of the static object BlackMask01 and retexture it to be a starscape. You could then build a cylindrical sort of box or sphere out out of all these large flat sheets. If you wanted something like a planet or nebula, you might have different retextures of BlackMask01 and scatter them around in your starscape, because you wouldn't want to have the same recognizable planet on every single sheet. kirshan
Basis of my project is the D&D game Spelljammer, I feel Cyrodill is to full as it is, I love world building, and it gives me the opportunity to add elements from other fanatsy games I love without conflicting with TES lore. I want to add another feel to the traveling to other worlds instead of using another " look another glowing portal door to there" why not make it a submarine in a bottle? have it so they can breathe underwater and put them so far under they would never know? would work with the whole gravity thing. think you would still need some kind of water shader though to change the way it looked. kirshan
I'll try that idea David, it may turn out an easier way to put my ship in a bottle. I've download a few resources with different "space scenes" I had though about that also. I want Space to look massive, even if it only 30ft off the starboard side of the ship. crispychaney
haha sorry its more of an idea to get around the whole absence of gravity. put the whole thing underwater :) sorry i should have made myself clearer
kirshan
David your Idea worked very well, although to make larger space areas ie: space ports( which I have 2 planed) I'm going to have to use a ton of them or make the majority of the areas interiors. Megatarius
If you make every area an interior, you could easily simulate empty space, because that's what the interiors are. Install Midas Magic and go to the Midas realm. It's an interior cell but modeled like an exterior. You'll see what I mean. As for distant texture: I'm only guessing now, but couldn't you just make a really big sphere or cube mesh and put everything else inside of it?
