danscott84
Darkewolf,You make valid points, and either way I agree with elcooocin in that it would not be the actors, but the writers that I would worry about most if a movie was made. The case for this would be the Doom movie. Except the characters and names of locations, none of the story matched the game. The whole element of the story in the game was lost in translation to the movie, so I almost hope there is no movie made for this game simply because Hollywood tends to take a good game and make a terrible movie. DarkeWolf
So very, incredibly true. The story behind this game is years and years and years in the making. Hollywood would totally boff it up.And as much as I hate to say it, even Bioware couldnt be trusted to make a decent flick of it, not while under EAGames' thumb. Look at the horrid comics. :verymad:
elooocin
God do not get me started on how much I want to vomit on EA. They screw up so freaking goddang much when their dirty money hungry hands touch something!!!!!!! .. and there I went. But oh god how amazing if the movie was done like Avatar!!?? That would be so awesome to me! But man oh man are you right about the writing, dan. It is to be expected that when a book or game is made into a movie that they will change some things, and I'm fine with that. But gah sometimes I think in an effort to add a twist or change things up the writers end up screwing what could have been something great into something like DOOM and Indiana Jones. Ya Indina Jones was not a book or anything but my god I get so annoyed thinking of how they ruined that franchise with the piece of crap they put out in both writing and visually!!!! *stops myself*
Firinneach
Wait a minute! How could you possibly leave out as an option...claymation? Just think the Voyages of Sinbad...Jason and the Argonauts...The original Clash of the Titans! Hmm. On second thought, maybe the choices are just fine as they are. I voted for live action, working under the assumption of decent budget/actors. On the flip side, I'd rather see it done as animation than live if the production quality was going to more of a made-for-tv level.
ell46
Either way there would be a lot of disappointed people, if a film doesn't match your imagination after reading the book   if after playing the game the film didn't follow your idea of the perfect story again   I only watched a small part of one trailer which I believe was for the urn of sacred ashes and I was disappointed that in the game I didn't get to make the trek through the snow storm up the mountain, so I've not wanted to see any trailers. danscott84
elcooocin, Don't get me started on the books. Angels and Demons is a perfect example of ruining an excellent book with a movie. And Indy? Where the hell did the idea for a spaceship in the pyramid come from anyways? Firinneach, Hey, those Sinbad movies were great. Granted I was 10, but they were great. MMM Jane Seymour MMM. ;P ell46,Too true that about the trailers. And you definitely hit the head of the nail about disappointed fans.
DarkeWolf
Pssssh, that's nuthin. I was the dummy that thought that the SA trailer was for a seperate DLC or expansion :whistling:
elooocin
@dan - oh dear god I know!!!! I am always worried when I read an amazing book and the movie is coming out, granted sometimes I don't mind the changes since I understand why they gave things a bit of a twist. One thing too, you always have to give a little leeway to movie people and lower your own expectations a bit since you know they cannot please everyone! If you are a hardcore fan of a book/game then, yeah, you are probably going to be a little disappointed, but you have to put that aside and just enjoy the ride and experience of what Hollywood gives you. ... not counting when they royally screw things up, mind you! And yeah this is an old movie but I never forgive them for messing up the epic ending of Chocolat with the fluff that was the movie! And I have no idea why of all the Hollywood screw-ups with books/games that one is always so vivid in my mind! LOL! @Firinneach - lol that was awesome and made me laugh!!! Gosh I remember those movies too - I vote we start a petition for a claymation DA:O movie wooo!! :teehee: @Wolf - I did too!!!!!! It just seemed like a whole separate thing to me, not to mention my disappointment when the in game quest was so ... basic. Where was the epic mountain climb!? Where were the darkspawn trying to shove me off the side!? Where was the blizzard!? I want to fight in a roaring blizzard where I can hardly see a thing!!! :woot: .. and now I must shut up my rambling as my husband has just declared it is a shame I have never seen the Last Starfighter from '84 and is pulling me away!*flops off*
spinspider
Thumbs down to movies being based off video games. Most movies that get based off video games absolutely suck, mainly because they change so many things about the story and skimp on so many things, because some smartass thinks he or she has better ideas. And the movie ends up being a horribly pathetic mockery of a fabulous game, that rather diminishes my love for the game itself. IMO, video games should just stay video games. The two just don't mix well.
DarkeWolf
Yeah, I agree that they would screw it up. BUT... the poll doesnt ask if people think they would do a good job, or if they would botch it all to hell. It just asks which would you prefer to see it done as
