Video Cards or something!

Basically, I was fed up with my crappy Fallout 3 experience, so I tried to upgrade my video card. I went to look up things I could download from the ATI site and I found what I needed, ran it, and then midway through my screen went blank. After about 10 minutes of blank screen, like an idiot, I forced my computer to restart. When I logged back on the graphics looked terrible and now I can't play Fallout.

I have ATI Radeon 2100, but also listed under Display adapters it lists ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series. So I'm not sure. 2100 has a big exclamation mark on the icon, which it used to not. Anyways, I've looked up everything I can think of and have come here for some help, seeing as I'm hopeless when it comes to computer. Whenever I try to install something it says

"No ATI graphics driver installed, or the ATI driver is not functioning properly. Pleas install the ATI driver appropriate for your ATI hardware."

So I've tried that and nothing.. Please help!

Did you install catalyst for your 2100 or for the 3400? I don't know if they're different or not.

In anycase, uninstall both from device manager and either 'scan for hardware changes' or just reboot. It should pick up the device that's actually there and install the drivers for it, if you downloaded the correct ones.

Just want to double check before I mess up even worse. When I press uninstall do I check the box that asks me if I want to delete the software for the device? It's probably a no brainer, but I just don't want to mess up worse.

Ok, well, I did what I always do and went on and did it anyways and now it does look even worse. Device manager says everything is up to date. When I logged in, it didn't look any better and then it said that Catalyst was closing. I don't know why this is happening.
