miseryguts Posted May 17, 2010 Share Posted May 17, 2010 Hello to all I am new here, and apologize if this issue has been raised before. I can't get past the character creation without this bizarre problem i can select Gender, Race, Class but when i click on Background the avatar disappears!! and next menu (Appearance & Voice) no avatar. On all subsequent skill & talent menus attributes (when clicked) do not increase the values, and can't start the game as the next icon can't be clicked without applying all the points I am running: Core i7 (3.22), 8gb Ram, 2x Radeon 5870 (Crossfire), Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) I have the latest drivers for my graphics card, and as far as i am aware all important Windows updates - i have patched the game to version 1.03, and yes it is a legitimate disc. I would be most grateful to anyone that could shed some light on this, as i am fast running out of patience. Thanks in advance to any kind soul taking the time to respond. danscott84 Posted May 17, 2010 Share Posted May 17, 2010 First thing, did you configure the game before playing the first time? This is in the console where it checks the system and configures the game for optimum settings. If so...someone else may have a different idea, but sounds to me like the game had a problem when installing. I would uninstall and reinstall and see if the problem still persists. DarkeWolf Posted May 17, 2010 Share Posted May 17, 2010 go to your c:/program files/bioware/dragon age/bin_ship folder. Right click on each .exe file in there, and choose run as administrator. Right click it again, and run it under windows xp compatibility. See if that works... as it might be an issue with your 64 bit system. I do however, remember some users reporting this problem after installing patch 1.03. So if the right clicks dont work, I'd recommend reinstalling, and only patching to 1.02 (which will require you to patch MANUALLY, rather than letting the game do it by itself, because it will patch to 1.03). Just make sure to remove the registry entries for dragon age, before reinstalling. A cleaner program like ccleaner can get rid of them. Good luck! And Welcome to the nexus! DarkeWolf Posted May 18, 2010 Share Posted May 18, 2010 Dan- issues with hair/eyes (styles/colors) not showing up, issues with the skills being blocked, issues with the character's avatar no longer showing up, the background behind the avatar disappearing... there might be more but those are the ones that are right off the top of my head.Couldnt tell you on what OS. Probly have to reference the patch 1.03 problem thread over at social.bioware for that. I havent seen it on mine either, tho.... I didnt make any characters while I had it installed. And after I uninstalled it, no probs at all :wink: BTW- you guys dont have to type out my whole SN. I know a lot of folks typo it and have to go back and correct it.
