Gamegurl
Heya all,I'm just getting ready to start fiddling with the Winterforge mod I downloaded. My 1st question is am I able to use the mod to redye existing pieces of armor I have on?I'm gonna try to make a pair of boots but I would love if the stuff she has on at the moment actually matched in color. Also, is anyone else unable to open the Forge instructions in the user manual at Winterforge Homepage. I will probably be able to figure it out and did note the author of the mod but the 1st 4 categories under *forge* in the manual don't seem to work.thanks and happy huntingGG Edit: adding OMG!!! My minds bending and I have no idea what I am doing. I did successfully create the boots but I want to destroy them because I misunderstood the naming and messed that up.I'm not sure how to nuke them or maybe I should just sell them.I am also having trouble enchanting, adding inscriptions. I go kill stuff before I scream.am a bit baffled.ok more than a bitI turned Light mode on, I placed the item and the Inscription on the autel. Maybe I am supposed to say Abra Kadabra:Pgroan
DarkeWolf
Ugh, sorry to hear that its bugging you this much. You can recolor items, but only within the limits of the existing materials system. In other words you can only change them to use metal colors that are already in the game. Unless you are using a custom hue for it, you couldnt say... make the boots... sky blue. You can do this, by choosing to use enameled ingots. If you go to the materials menu, go past dragon bone, you will see the option for the colored metals. You can then choose a color type, and it will tell you which metals are available for that color. Phaenan's website- ummmm.... no comment. :whistling: naming. Naming is pretty easy. When you have the text box open, its Name (enter)Name (enter)Name (enter)END (enter) All caps. This method would give the name of the item 3 words of a name. such as My Sword Left (for the left hand, in this example). You can either put them back on the forge, and choose to remove the enchantments on them, redo their materials they are made of, remove any itemset settings, rename them. or you can just drag and drop them out of your inventory window to delete them, or you can sell them to Bodahn. Inscriptions? If you're talking about throwing bonuses on them, you put the item in the forge, then go talk to the mute marionette. (you have to have dialog options enabled from the barrel behind her). From there, you should find a dialog entry that looks something like "Show me the bonuses" or something like that. Don't go blushing now but you are teh awesome :thumbsup:I knew it was something pretty simple that I was overlooking. The way the directions in the manual seemed to me were that I just dropped the stuff on the Autel/Enchant platter thingie. So when you are speaking of colors I think I did that right, there was a list of *types* of material to use, one said something like "no I don't like arrows, give me scales"lolI got the naming correct, i just dorked out and put two names on it instead of one.Being a perfectionist Scorpio, even though only I would see it I couldn't leave it as is.lolThanks a ton Wolf edited and back from a crafting:WHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! mudddaLMFAOThose are some specccccial boots, having kept in mind your advice about item defense I thought i'd add a little.heheheheheheerrr, like added 60 defenseBust that up you evil bad guysrotflI can see how this could get addictive
DarkeWolf
LOL see... thats the nice thing about the internet. When you guys get me blushing, ya don't see the red glow reflecting off my monitor :laugh:But thanks! Playing around with it will teach you a lot more than the "manual" will  I have honestly, never ever used the autel. And being at school atm, I cant even think of what it's for without being able to open up the game to mess around with it. Its always either the forge itself, the elf, or the barrel for switching the configuration on the mod. So it's for doing enchantments? WHY? You'll miss out on Thandal sounding so cute when he goes "Enchantment? Enchantment!"Tho most likely, what you'd need to do is put the item in there, then talk to the elf. Or maybe its another dialog option after putting the item in there. I'd have to try it out to know for sure, cause like I said, I've never messed with the autel. That and you've got a much more recent version than I do. I didnt upgrade, cause I didnt wanna go all over the place tracking down scrolls again, hahaha. The comment of "I dont like arrows, give me scales" sounds like a comment from the medium armor choices. where you can pick chain, scale, or whatnot. Scale armor has a bonus from ranged attacks. Tho, that could be a new description in the newer version. Hahaha I know what you mean about the perfectionist. Same way here! You should see me going thru new file names after I've DL'd some new MP3's! No prob. It really does get easier with time
spets21
guys if you plan on importing an item from origins to awakening that has been modified by the winterforge try not to rename the item or create an item on the anvil else it wont carry over to awakening, instead try to duplicate like a modified juggernaut armor instead of the usual resistance you can make anything you want w/ it  and duplicate the item 4x so your companions can use em aswell XD just a thought .
spinspider
Just one thing I want to make you aware of... be careful about using enamelled metals if you have Awakening. This mod has not been updated to work with AWK, so if you import a Warden from Origins into the expansion, any equipment in your inventory that was made from an enamelled metal will show up as being made of a blank (nameless) material and will have the stats of tier 1 iron, thus rendering the item into a worthless and useless piece of junk. I have this mod too and found out about this issue the hard way, had to trash a lot of good stuff.

balthazar9086
Hi guys, Instead of starting a new thread, I thought I'd ask my questions regarding this mod here. First, it's a great mod with even greater potential. I do have a few problems with the mod though. 1) Where are all the inscriptions? I've found merchants that sell them and also some lying on the ground, but what's with those 99x stacks of scrolls? Am I supposed to get them all and max out my inventory in the process? And is there a place where I can buy all of the scrolls? 2) After purchasing scrolls, why is it that some remain in my inventory and others disappear? I had originally thought that all of the scrolls would stay in my inventory and I'd be able to deposit them in the enchantment storage box at camp. 3) Making imbued elfroots means I lose the entire stack of them, and not just the amount I need. Do you guys have a way of overcoming them? Finally, I really don't want to sound like I'm mad at this mod or thinks it's too buggy. The truth is that I love this mod, and I love using it. I just wish it could be slightly less buggy and overwhelming. Still, kudos to the mod creator.
DarkeWolf
Bal- the easiest way to avoid the majority of this, is to go to the barrel, open up the dialog options, and set it so that it doesnt do a materials check. After this is done, you will never have to locate or carry about, or use the majority of that stuff ever again :wink:You will still have to find and read the scrolls which teach you how to instill the abilities, but the recipes, you can now ignore. Theres the skill scrolls, and the recipe scrolls. The skill scrolls (for lack of proper term) Do disappear when you read them. if your character fails the check, and isnt able to read them, they will remain until you try again. Right click, use the inspect (eye) icon. The recipe scrolls will remain in inventory until you use them in the forge. Not sure how to use them, I've always use the material check OFF, so have never ever used recipes. :whistling: 1) UNFORTUNATELY.... no. There is no singular location where you can purchase/find everything all at once. Having to go hunting all over the map for this stuff has been a SERIOUS complaint and changing it has been requested to the author. She doesn't want to. So I'm afraid that i have bad news for you there :sad:Also, when you turn the material check, OFF, you will no longer have to buy those stacks. Those are recipe scrolls, and you won't need them anymore.2) See what I posted in my first paragraph :wink:3) Also see the first paragraph, and what I posted in 1). No worries, I absolutely loved this mod too, but it's definitely got a few things that could be changed
