Creature 'size' scaling??

Does anyone know how to scale the size of an existing creature in the toolset? For example, I want to shrink a High Dragon down to a miniture size. Or increase his size to that of double normal High Dragon.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.

Heyas!

The toolset has no such function. And thus what you are wanting to do cannot be done thru the toolset.

HOWEVER- there is a really cool app called DAtool http://social.bioware.com/project/41/ which can be used to do this.

Now, I will mention that it does the resampling via integers, like 1.05, 1.25, 1.35, etc. To scale it up, it would be 1+ like the examples that I just gave. To scale down it would be like 0.95, 0.75, 0.5, etc.

So you'll need to play around with it till you find a size that you find to your liking.

Also remember, that when you scale the body, you're also going to have to scale the head, as they are seperate pieces. And, that they may not look correct during the cutscenes, and during combat, because the animations won't automatically be matched to the scale.

I hope that this helps you out  And good luck with your mod

No problem, glad to help out when I can

While I have only used it to extract meshes and textures, so far I have found it incredibly easy to use. To go hunting for something, you just click file/browse

I think you're gonna need to go into creature, and then go through the list. I think there's like....4-6 creature folders.

Also, to make it easier while actually looking thru them, use ctrl and the right and left arrow keys.

After a while, it will give you a message that its out of date, and to update it. There is no update yet, so just close that popup window

Have fun!

I got a question. I went to the creature folder, saw the High Dragon's head and scaled it. I saved it with normal bioware naming convention, changing the extension at the end from _0 to _1 so I can differentiate. A few problems here, i'm hoping you can explain to me.

1. When I use the "Open File" option for DATool to try and view my modified creature head, i get an error saying can not open the file, missing the MMH. I tried "Saved Modified" and "Save All" and neither work.

2. While browsing creatures with LOD turned ON, when i get to a model, it says it can't find the file and it stops all preview. This only happens when I have the LOD turned ON. Any idea? The file that it gets stuck on is the High Dragon's head, and the preview shows a non-texture orange model.

3. Lastly, after I scale a creature and save, it doesn't really give me an option to name my new appearance. How am i suppose to access this new model from toolset? And where should i put all the new files? Should i insert the files into modelhierarchy.erf or just drop the files in the override?

Thanks for further assistance!

No problem.

K.... you may think that this is kinda dumb. It seems that a mesh that it modifies, needs to be put into the same folder that you have the datool.exe file in, or else it won't open it.

Hopefully that gets you set straight.

Ok, I did it as save modified, then it gives me a screen with the original filename and then a blank text box below that, where I entered a custom name.

As for the rest of the process, involving toolset, and making it part of the .erf.... I'm afrad that this is beyond my expertise.

You might try hunting around on this page- http://social.bioware.com/wiki/datoolset/index.php/Tutorials to see if they have a tut on how to do this...

Or hopefully somebody more in the know on this kinda stuff will drop in and post!

Good luck

I got the creature to import into the game, at any scale I choose =P It was awesome. However, there is one problem. I can't hit it with any melee weapon, once I scale the creature from default size. Any ideas? =)

Awesome! I'm really glad to hear that! Way to go!

If you used a tut, could you post me a link? I (eventually) plan to (try to) put some qunari sized femmes into the game, and that would be awesome to have bookmarked if I ever get around to trying to do it.

K, I've got a theory on that. I think you either made it too big, or too small. How much did you adjust it's size? Also, is their target circle red? Maybe it's something in the method of how you imlemented them in the game?

Hopefully somebody replies, cause I'm afraid that I'm beat, and gonna try to head to bed. I'll check back when I get up tho.
