Awakening ending

Sorry if this has been covered, but looking at my achievements it shows I haven't completed Awakening, which I have twice.

I loaded the last saved game of one play through to find that it was an autosave on arriving at the mothers lair, assuming with their usual sense of humour BW didn't allow for a save after killing the thing I loaded the save and killed it again and got the video where you finish her off playing in a loop so I hit the esc key between 5-6 times when it suddenly flashed up that I had the achievement for killing the mother and I assume officially finishing the game.

Is this a known bug or my set up that is the problem, if it's a bug is there a mod/fix?

Hmmm, mine is auto save too, and I just finished the crapy expansion once! But it's still in my achievments =/

Its the expansion, not anything in your setup. There is no savegame after killing the final boss, as there is in DAO. Thus, nothing following that, is really saved.

One more reason why I see DAA as more of a DLC rather than expansion. As after ending it, it really doesnt have that much affect on things as a whole. At least...not yet.

What about the end scene playing 5-6 times in a loop is that a bug?

I played the second game yesterday to see if it happened with that and it did, BUT it was different... this game I killed the mother, it did the clip where you finish her off and walk away, went into the epilogues and then went back to the end scene of finishing her off. I'm totally confused as to how the game SHOULD finish after you kill the mother, what is a bug and what isn't.

I agree with you Awakening isn't my idea of an expansion.

hahaha yeah, the ending cutscene playing multiple times is a bug. Its been documented on several sites

I further compounded the bug by having AoE spells running when she died. In two of the scenese they were still going, in the third one, they were gone.

Essentially, the way its supposed to happen is you kill her, the cutscene plays, the epilogue cards play, then credits. The game ends, and then starts the dissappointment, disapproval, and the utter disbeliving sentence of "That's IT!?"

Thanks for confirming what I thought the end should play out like. I thought a 'bug' would always give the same results, obviously not. I know what you mean about "That's IT" I felt the same way it was over before you knew it.

Also there was something not quite right, there didn't seem to be time to do everything before some options were closed to you. In my second play through I went back to the keep with the intention of having the dwarf and elf go through the joining only to find I didn't have that option, it was time to go to war and I still had a couple of quests to do, it all felt a bit frantic in places.

I think I'll have one more play through so I can prove to myself I can get everything done and then forget about it, but it doesn't seem right you have to do things in such and such an order so you can complete everything.

No worries, Its never a problem. Always glad to help out

Yeah, I know what you mean. I think... and this is just me... that we got really spoiled in DAO, where we HAD time to go and do all the things that we wanted... even tho realistically speaking.... an army lead by a demon isn't just gonna sit around on their thumbs, waiting for us to get there.

DAA took a somewhat different approach to that. Towards about the latter-middle of it, I started to get this feel of "we Gotta do this, we Gotta do this, oh crap we Gotta do this NOW" kinda feel to it. A much more realistic sense of "dammit, this stuff is happening before I'm ready for it" situation.

Yeah, my "poor" elfy companion lucked out, and we didnt have time to do Her joining. Gee, I guess she just lucked out and gets to spend the rest of her Natural lifespan without the nightmares :whistling:

Awakening was really disappointing, the party member are not as remarkable or distinctive, the interaction was very poor, everything just felt like it was made out of poor laziness.

Question, for those of you married Anora or at least made a deal to do so, did you become a king in awakening or is it that Bioware didn't bother to put that path into the expansion

you get to be prince -consort , there's no mention of being king in the epi ): just that you return to court and anora is waiting to welcome the hero of fereldan
