I have been using Win7 since it came out with no problems. However, if you install to the default location, - C:\program files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion - you will have problems until you move the game out of the protected 'program files' folder. The vanilla game works fine there, but Windows UAC (vista & Win7) blocks any changes to programs there without bothering to tell you about it. The default location works fine for WinXP.

Use this procedure to uninstall and reinstall to another location most people have been using C:\games\Oblivion

Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexus

First, work on one or the other, not both at once.

Both of these are utility programs and not mods, and do not install like mods so you must read ALL of the instructions.

I have seen several posts recently about problems getting one or the other to work with the steam version. Probably one of the daily steam updates broke them.

Oblivion Mod Manager - http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/prep/obmm <-- follow the instructions for installing OBMM (the standard acronym is not OMM) here

Preparing for Mods - http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/prep <-- follow the instructions for installing OBSE here

Edit: Oblivion is commonly abbreviated OB. OBSE is only OBSE. There is no OSE. OBSE is the name of that Oblivion extension, period.

Thank you bolth so much for the quick response, gonna try it now. I let you know how it goes.

Thanks again!

Do not install those utilities until you reinstall the game, of course. I also have a page on (un)installing Oblivion on my site: Installing Oblivion. It also points to some important tweaks for the Oblivion.ini.
