If you do NOT have this software installed, then no, you have nothing to alter the screen drivers not the PC control over the display.

For fallout 3 and Fomm and NMM, you need to have control over that display screen, the hardware must be turned off. This is an old game, the machine is new, the machines today are foriegn to the game. Even fomm is limited.

99% of all crashing is dealing with that display driver....period. Wrong software? well then your prone to problems.

I own a lap top too, and the 64bit software is slightly difernt than it is for a 32bit system, not only differnt, much more of IT there is because it makes data for both Enviorments.

IF you need help? with the drivers ,say so, I will take the time to get the links for you.

which browser do you use?

EDIT: just start over, that is IF you wish to run the game full out and have fun....normally..and not fight the game?

This is the LINK you need, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration?esab=a&s=gra[phic+drivers&r=0&as=s

at or near the bottom there is a selection from each com[pany, understand now ,these companies are now combined, VIA shareholdings, so inttrests are shared, that means hardware secrets are being shared. So, you see the Big 3 sitting there.

  2. http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
  3. http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx

what you see on thescrren there is this:

  1. Intel
  2. AMD/ATI
  3. NVIDIA

before you even start, you need to get the removal tool first from this place.

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download#

Pat attrention to that web page, on the right there is listed a cover all instances graphics installation packages for any and all system verses the Operating system choice.

that is Just a choice, it is not the method, but it is there for you encase you decide you want better or difernt data?

I am using these "...Latest AMD Catalyst™ Drivers for Radeon™ R9 200, R7 200, HD 7000, HD 6000 and HD 5000 Series"....

you need these "AMD Mobility Radeon™ Notebook Drivers"...BUT ! you are not Limited to them, you do and can use the catalyst drivers too. just cant use both.

the packages them selves contains all you need for that unit.

But FIRST: this is where you should be starting out at:

When and if you ru nthe tools, it will presnt this to you.

the shot shows that I too was given only a "ccc" choice, that is bare bones and does not cover all aspects of the machine, the very thing you need are for the machine, the whole machine.

So my choice is not what is given to me, I chose the larger setup, and it gives me a lot more control over the machine and other software running on the machine.

I am uploading the software required to fix the system you have if you need it, it will be there for you. (amdcleanuputility)

  • 9 months later...

I'm playing the game on a laptop Windows 7 and it freezes or crashes to desktop randomly. Sometimes it happens within 5 minutes, sometimes after an hour, sometimes after 3 hours, or sometimes not freezing/crashing at all in a particular session. Basically it just happens if it wants to happen. I already did the ini trick and have installed the Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch from this website. I'm starting to wonder if the problem lies in my laptop. I have a Lenovo Z585 with AMD A10-4600M, AMD Radeon HD 7660G, and 6GB of RAM. There are no mods added to my game. Only the DLC Broken Steel is installed. The game runs great. It's just frustrating that the freezing and crashing happens so random.

I get the same thing happening, on win 8, I think it's the game and not your or my machine.
