BenSpazz
so after playing oblivion for a couple hours it starts to stutter a bit. so i go to my task manager and discover that its using 1500000k of active memory. well it becomes unplayable, so i save and restart the game. not a terribly big deal. but its a hassle. it does it about every 2 hours of game play. im running: Windows Vista 64bitQuad 2.5ghz8 GB RAMNvidia 9600gt
Tomlong54210
Your setup could take advantage of the LAA patch. (WARNING: The LAA patch is not safe enough to use on a 32-bit OS or a 64-bit system that has less than 3GB of RAM. If your system does not meet these requirements, do not use this patch. If you are some tech expert that has been able to do something about these limitations, please keep that to yourself.) That memory usage is not at all unusual for Oblivion. Users that do not have their game patched, which includes most users, usually run into their memory caps around 1.5 - 1.8 MB of RAM usage. Once the game reaches that point, a crash or freeze is inevitable. A very stable game takes about 3-4 hours to reach that limit. With enough mods, the cap could be reached in less time, even on a stable setup. Using stabilizing and optimizing modules can help extend your stable playing time. See the second link in my sig, to my site's thread. Toward the bottom of the first post, you will find links to a number of pages related to optimization and stabilization.
