Tales From Elsweyr Anequina

Elsweyr Deserts of Anequina became fabulously successful and made it so nobody wanted Tales From Elsweyr anymore. The two mods conflicted badly as far as land contours and object placement went. So a gamer had to choose one or the other of the two. Guess which mod won.

 

Now Tales From Elsweyr is being overhauled and turned into Tales From Elsweyr Anequina. The levitating locations are being lowered to the ground, the sunken locations are being raised to the surface, and the conflicting locations are being laterally moved. For example, a ruin is being moved so it is not in the middle of the city of Orcrest.

 

The new mod will be dependent on Elsweyr Anequina and a gamer will have to have it installed and active to make the new mod work. It is also designed to be compatible with these Elsweyr Mods:

Beyond Cyrodiil - Camps

 

WIPz - Elsweyrs Kingdom of Rimmen

 

Phase 1 of the Tales From Elsweyr Anequina project will involve resolving all the blatant conflicts.

 

Phase 2 will involve dealing with more subtle conflicts and lore discrepancies, and will involve the addition of brand-new content to the land of Elsweyr.

 

Phase one is sitting at about 55% completion, and this weekend major progress will be made. The mod will soon be into the testing phase.

 

Tales From Elsweyr Anequina and Elsweyr Deserts of Anequina will be huge. The two mods together will have about 139 interior cells, and over 73 exterior locations.

 

 

I am seeking some information and opinions from the public.

 

Where do you sleep when playing Elsweyr Anequina? I haven't played the mod much yet, but I can't find anywhere to rent a bed. There are a bunch of caravansaries but I haven't figured out how to rent a bed at them. When I was going to drop for lack of sleep, I finally had to kill all the bandits in a camp so I could sleep there.

 

What is the status of the "Rimmen" mod project? What is the expected release date of the beta or finished version?

 

If I put daedric shrine ruins in Elsweyr, would people rather download Tales From Elsweyr Anequina in order to play them, or download Daedric Shrine Ruins?

 

What content would be best to add to the world of Elsweyr Anequina?

When I first played in Elsweyr Anequina, I slept in the "house for sale" in Riverhold. When I explored I killed the bandits and slept in the camps and villages. When my current character starts playing in Elsweyr, I use Anequina manor v.2. I have no idea if Iliana would allow it but a daedric retexture of the shrine to Malacath outside of Orcrest would be neat. Another idea is a shrine to Shor or Mara erected by Pelinal Whitestrike as penance for his actions in Eleswyr. Ruined Daedric Shrines would probably be along the border between Valenwood,Elsweyr and closer to the Summerset Isles.

The character that I explored Elsweyre with was an African (Redguard?) bushwoman shaman and she slept outside with Roughing It.

 

I was always disappointed that you couldn't go into the palaces in the game. (Am I wrong about that?)

 

The Jungles to the south have the totally wrong bird sound effects applied to them. It sounds like the mountains. My CS doesn't let me change it. As soon as I do, and go back into the window the changes are undone. If you can, please make the sound effects in the jungle match the Leyawiin marsh sounds. The seagulls and surf washing ashore was so cool, but the mountain birds ruin it.

 

I know it would be a lot of work, but if anything even remotely like it exists, even if it's modified SI stuff, a tileset of pyramid or arabian ruins would be really cool for dungeons. Doesn't Elsweyre require SI anyway? I have it, so I just installed without thinking about it. (I still haven't played it. Maybe it doesn't look anything at all like desert ruins, even if retextured..... :sweat: )

David, this is great news. I played up to the ruins in the middle of Orcrest and really enjoyed this mod.

 

1) Sleep - camps, Reaper's Manor, houses for sale.

 

2) Rimmen - don't know.

 

3) Daedric Shrine Ruins - not that interested really, so I would prefer them in their own mod.

 

4) Additional content -

- A-E is most lacking in quests. Since that is the primary focus of this mod you are off to a good start.

- Have you considered using Onra's new heightmaps for Valenwood and the rest of Elsweyr? They are really nice and need some activities placed there. That would give you plenty of space for your daedric shrines.

- There are a lot of undeveloped buildings in Corinthe, Dune and Orcrest now. Incorporating them into TfA-E would be great.

- A quest based in/on Orcrest would be nice.

- Something with the skooma underworld perhaps?

As of V2 you can enter the palace in Orcrest and part of the Corinthe palace has opened up.

And I wish you best of luck with your project,I think it will be pretty unique and smartly done,knowing your experience and ideas. :thumbsup:

 

Now,I haven't played the mod a lot when it was released,but I did had a run through,here and there,and I tried that house mod of Reaper's.

 

Despite that the mod had a lot unfinished things,like interiors and population mostly,I really liked it,because of the extremely beautiful outside design,it gives the feeling that you aren't in the game anymore,like you jumped into another one.And it was done by a single person,I can only imagine how much time it required. *Salutes*

 

Anyways,what popped into my mind was the cultural mixture I would add to it.

 

I WOULD avoid placing Daedric things in there,because to me,it just doesn't fit.Statues,worshipers,quests based on daedric culture definitely isn't for the mod involving Elsweyr,by my opinion.And Daedra as a threat showed it's age,I think,some fresh things would definitely 'sell' it to the future players.

 

I would rather try to expand the lore.New gods,khajiit culture mostly.Lots of mercenary groups.Turmoil.Imperial legion is taking over the land with Nibenians as the idealogists.They are opposing the council while there is no emperor.A fraction inside of the Legion?Ocato doesn't want it,he wants a peaceful union(with that you would break the ol' boring altmer evil stereotype). A couple of large battles in the deserts.Now,cultural mixture of the Elsweyr.I would do it as a clash between arabic-persian-turkish-egyptian styles.Something exotic and ancient.New gods I was saying.Why not some similarities on the old egyptian gods?Jackals and cats.Cats are already there,but jackal race? :thumbsup: A clash between those two,maybe as a part of the main quest.Pirates,mostly combined from Orsinium,Hammerfell and High Rock,raiding the shores.Treasure hunt,or maybe a rat race without any rules of competition as a spice quest?Pyramids.Maybe expanding a goblin culture,as well,people know nothing about them almost.To what do they pray?Maybe an underground Golbin City?Different tribes,some hostile,some are not.Goblin Jim lived with them,how did he managed it?

This is an interesting thread as I'm just starting to learn about modding. The inspiration is a mod from Slof, but it would fit well in an oasis village. I'm trying to learn how to do nearly everything to make this vision come true, but it would be something that wasn't actually lore supported, but would be drama and suspense oriented around a small once-nomadic tribe of people.

 

If you're looking for ideas, I'm working on a screenplay of sorts to develop characters and nailed down the plot because the idea I have has be quite titillated. I would say more here, but I'm excited about making something for such a thriving community and I would spill my guts and have someone not credit me, if that's understandable.

 

Thank you for your time and consideration, also for reading my response. I hope to hear form you while I'm starting from the ground up. :D

Tales from Elsweyr Anequina 2_4 has been released to the public after going through two beta versions.

 

Phase 1 is pretty much complete. Phase 1 being the resolution of all the blatant conflicts between the Tales from Elsweyr Anequina and Elsweyr Anequina. The two mods now look good together and play well together.

 

A patch has been released for users of Unique Landscapes - Bravil Barrowfields, a mod that extends quite far into Elsweyr.

 

Phase 2 will involve the addition of new content for Elsweyr. It will come in updates as time permits over the course of the coming months. If anybody wants to insert the new modded content they have made into Elsweyr and assure compatibility with the five Elsweyr mods I am dealing with, send me a personal message. The content could be added to Tales from Elsweyr Anequina. Modders will get full credit and perhaps get wider distribution of their work. They would also get to avoid some of the pitfalls I have dealt with because I have figured out how to work around them after making a variety of mistakes.

Do you reckon you could neaten the wizards tower near the tribal camp. I think south-east of Dune? The landscaping is a bit shaggy.

This was back in mid-June though, so I dunno if it's changed.
