Oblivion has stopped working... Randomly

"Oblivion has stopped working..."

 

This is the message I get sometimes while killing off NPCs (only outside, not in dungeons), on exiting or prior to a loading screen. I have my suspicions that it may be down to the fact I've overclocked my CPU and GPU extensively and Oblivion thought it'd throw a hissyfit in protest.

 

I avidly obsess over 'Max Graphics' so clocking down is out of the question.

 

Is there a setting in the .ini file I could change to accomodate my overclock, or was my hypothesis wrong and there's another factor to this problem? In which case, correct me.

 

If it'll help at all, here are my computer's specs

 

CPU: AMD Athlon II 620 x4 (stock: 2.6GHz, overclocked to: 3.25GHz)

GPU: RADEON HD4650 (stock: 500MHz, overclocked to 720MHz) over VGA

RAM: Crucial 4GB (2x2GB) (stock: 800MHz, overclocked to 1066MHz)

OS: Windows 7 build 7600 x64

HDD (for good measure): Maxtor 500GB (2x 250GB Partitions)

Oblivion's INI file will not help with overclocking or multiple cores. Are you using unofficial mods?

Yeah, 100+ unofficials, I think some of them may be official. But even without mods it's done this

Post your load order, please. If it is doing this without mods, try defragging your system. The problems with and without mods probably have different stimuli, however. You should also reset your codecs to make sure that they are not interfering. Make sure to kill unnecessary processes and applications before you play, as well.

That looks sorted. Is it sorted by BOSS? You have overlapping cosmetic mods, however...
