TheSnowWolf
Okay, so... I play Oblivion often. Very often. Though, sometimes I overload my game a bit too much with mods. When that happens, I reinstall. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Oblivion 3 or 4 times without issues in the past. Though, this time is different... For the first time ever, I am getting a bunch of SecuRom *manure*. I kept getting SecuRom errors when trying to uninstall. But that problem has already been solved. I uninstalled Oblivion and removed EVERY mark it had on my PC [registry keys, folders, configuration files, etc...] When I go to reinstall it, I get this error right after I go through the prompts and start the installation. Feature: Disk<1>Component: <Disk1>Disk1 Files(1)File: C:\Program Files\InstallShield InstallationInformation\{35CB6715-4F99-8881-6FC75BF054B0}Error: Access is denied Here's a picture of the actual error: http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/5674/fffffffffffuuu.jpg I have tried every solution that google could have possibly provided me with. I don't understand why this is happening. It's never been installed on another PC other than mine, it's been installed 3 or 4 times already and successfully removed, and there's never been a single problem. I don't understand! NOTES: -I, for some reason, cannot find "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information" or anything similar at all. -The key "{35CB6715-4F99-8881-6FC75BF054B0}" also seems to be non-existant on my PC. [i went looking via regedit] -This problem has NEVER happened before. -I know my way around a PC.

TheSnowWolf
Thankyou, Tomlong, for such a speedy response. Though, it seems that I cannot rename the installshield folder. I apparently need permission [This is an admin account, btw.] and nothing is using the folder, nor is it open. I tried to tell the installer to install at a non-program files location but the error persisted.
RedVexHK
I may be wrong... but it could be the admin account causing it... I had the same sort of problems with another game myself.. Perfect world had multiple errors similar to that when I downloaded it because files were installed to either locations requiring admin permissions or (and this was weird) Admin settings locked out certain folders.. basically not even permitting them to exist. I had to disable admin settings to install the game... ..it may be a similar problem with Oblivion.. also I might be completely wrong...

What do you propose I do?
Tomlong54210
Can you get onto the admin account temporarily? It sounds like the UAC is being really mean to you. You could search online for a hack to rename that folder with the command prompt, running as admin or something...

By the way, I have UAC turned off.
Tomlong54210
That's a shame... I do not get that other post either...there's a way for admin's to disable admin settings, and that is helpful...? Edit: Were any of the other suggestion on that page I linked applicable?
bben46
If you have a no CD program such as the legal alcohol or something similar, the secure rom will not allow you to install the game. You must remove (or rename )it to proceed. There can also be some corrupted registry entries (very rare) that prevent an install after using the uninstaller. You can try my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure - it has helped many people with uninstall and reinstall problems. It does take care of the registry problem. Be sure to reinstall outside of the protected 'program files' folder. Simplest is to create a new folder C:\Games\Oblivion and install there. Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexushttp://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=
TheSnowWolf
Thanks for the help, everyone. I finally got it working. I removed EVERY trace of Oblivion on my PC [registries, saves, config files, mods, and even the folders that they were in]. Then I had to restart my PC and end all unnecessary processes, then rename the InstallShield folder in [C:\Program Files\Common Files\]. Then I simply installed as normal [i ran the setup.exe manually directly from the CD as administrator just to be safe.]
