omgitsns9
I was wondering, in some FPS, they have rocket launchers which can target moving vehicles and mounted objects and pretty much blow them to hell and back. I got to wondering, vertibirds are pretty dangerous, especialyy the ones which drop nukes. On one certain occasion, I was walking past the Talon Outpost in D.C. near the library. I was lucky enough to walk under a buildings walkway cover extension, when I heard a *BOOM*. I looked around, then up, a mushroom cloud right where I was, just about 20 feet higher and on the building. I want to be able to, if lucky enough to hear one, pull out a missile launcher, target, and blow it up before it even gets at the appropriate elevation to even consider bombing me. Then I thought bigger, what if it could target other mechanical things to? Say robots, turrets, and maybe even other missiles? Just something to think about. If I didn't explain it right, or if I made it confusing, here are the details. Missiles can lock on to certain objects and target them -Vertibirds-Robots-Turrets-other Missiles and Explosive projectiles? They can do so by holding down the aim button and then when you hear the *beepbeepbeepbeep* you click and watch the fireworks. I doubt it can happen, but you gota hope, right? Think it's possible? Hunter13304
Very cool idea, but it'd make it kind of cheating, maybe to overpowered :)
omgitsns9
Very cool idea, but it'd make it kind of cheating, maybe to overpowered :) Yeah, I can see why some would think that, but then again, verti-birds that drop nukes on you, isn't that a tad overpowered? Plus it would only affect machine type enemies and arial vehicles. So it's not like you could lock on to a bloatfly from across the map. Not to mention it would take at least 3 seconds of keeping your marker on the object to lock on sufficiently :P

Hunter13304
Why not just mod the missile launcher to shoot OVER 9000 rockets with OVER 9000 spread? hmm
Nadin
Better yet, have a slow rocket guided by a LAM. THAT would be awesome.
Nihilisaurus
Sorry to crap on your dreams but the *only* way to do this would be a hideous process of firing new projectiles every few meters of flight. Not only would it kill the point and the immersion but also your processor... ATM all I can reccomend against vertibirds is heavy automatics (a .50 M2 or a proper minigun like an avenger should do it) and uther High ROF/DPS weapons with fast projectiles. There's a dismounted 25mm AA cannon up here somewhere. That'd work. Or you could just use a high-powered missile when the buggers come in to drop off troops/hover to fire. I'd like guided SAMs, but the engine has no provision for them...
Nadin
I figured. Why couldn't they have built fallout 3 in the unreal 3 engine?
Nihilisaurus
Because that would have meant they'd have to pay royalties. Furthermore it would have made sense...
